Honnefeller Holds with Kings

Level 17 : 3,000/5,000, 5,000 ante

Andreas Mages limped in from early position and Karsten Honnefeller made it 18,000 to go in the hijack. The action folded back to Mages who made the call. The flop came {q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} and Mages check-called a bet of 28,000 from Honnefeller.

The turn was the {10-Diamonds} and Mages checked again. Honnefeller down-sized with a bet of 20,000 and Mages shoved all in. Honnefeller called off his stack of 105,000 and the cards were tabled.

Mages showed {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs} for top pair and a straight draw but Honnefeller was out front with {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}. The river was the {a-Spades} and Honnefeller doubled through Mages, who was left with just 3,000. Mages was eliminated from the tournament in the next hand.

Avital Katz
Avital Katz

While the tournament clock was paused because of four eliminations occurring at the same time, the tournament director was also in the process of breaking one table. Avital Katz found himself all in and at risk for his last 40,000 chips.

Unfortunately for Katz, who found some success earlier in the day, he was eliminated on the money bubble today. He will still have the opportunity to enter any of the three remaining flights if he wants to find a bag for Day 2.

Marian Kubis
Marian Kubis

Marian Kubis and Shlomo Angel saw the flop come {a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{5-Spades} and Kubis shoved after Angel's continuation bet, with the latter calling the shove.

Kubis opened {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for a flopped set while Angel had {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} with just top pair.

The {j-Spades} on the turn gave Angel some outs to improve to a full house and win the hand, but the {k-Hearts} on the river sent him to the rail.
