With around 56,000 in the middle on a board of 6♠K♠5♥8♥, Alexandros Kolonias got his last 61,200 in the middle from the cutoff against Adrian State in middle position.
Kolonias had A♥K♦ for top pair, but State showed 9♦7♦ for the turned straight. Kolonias was already drawing dead by the 6♥ river as the 2019 champion was sent to the rail.
Axel Hallay and Bastian Gallitzendoerfer are also at this table sporting big stacks.
There was already around 40,000 in the middle as David Hu and Paul Hoefer went to a flop of 2♥7♦4♥. Hu, in middle position, then bet 15,000.
Hoefer called in the cutoff and the 9♠ fell on the turn. Hu checked over to Hoefer, and it was the German's turn to bet 15,000. Hu paused for a moment before announcing he was all in.
Hoefer had around 78,000 remaining and only thought about the decision for a few seconds before mucking.
Fabian Gumz raised to 2,200 in the hijack before Pascal Pflock three-bet to 5,500 on the button. Gumz then moved all in and Pflock called off his last 30,500.
Pascal Pflock: A♣A♥
Fabian Gumz: A♠K♥
The board ran out J♣3♣6♣9♥Q♣ and Pflock finished with the nut flush to double up.
"I get aces, lose. I get ace-king the next hand and lose to aces. So stupid. I'm lucky you only had 30K," Gumz said with a smile. Orpen Kisacikoglu is also at this table.
At another table, Leon Sturm was the beneficiary of a massive cooler to climb up amongst the chip leaders. "300K pot. Nut flush versus straight flush. The nut flush had to be three perfect hearts," tablemate Jonathan Humphrey said.
Omar Eljach opened to 1,800 from the cutoff and Rachid El Yaacoubi made the call in the small blind before Ole Schemion three-bet to 9,500 from the big blind. Eljach four-bet to 21,000 and El Yaacoubi got out of the way. Schemion clicked it back to 35,500 before Eljach six-bet shoved, covering Schemion who began the hand with roughly 95,000. Schemion made the call and was at risk.
Ole Schemion: A♦A♥
Omar Eljach: Q♣Q♠
Schemion's aces remained ahead on the 2♦2♠3♦8♥5♣ runout and he secured a massive double up while making a serious dent in Eljach's stack.
With only 20,000 in the middle on the completed board of J♣8♥3♣10♠K♦, Merab Meladze bet 70,000 from the big blind, which put Giuliano Bendinelli in the blender for a couple of minutes.
Alex Peffly and Fabian Rolli were stunned with the drama developing on the table, with Peffly telling a PokerNews reporter "It is as bonkers as it looks!"
Bendinelli ended up making the call and was despondent to see Meladze had the stone-cold nuts with A♠Q♥ to make Broadway. Meladze has been creating huge pots all day, and PokerNews will be keeping a close eye on his table.
Alexandros Kolonias opened to 1,500 from under the gun and received calls from Christopher Lueck in the cutoff and Oender Yildirim in the small blind before Max Neugebauer three-bet to 9,500 from the big blind. Kolonias and Lueck got out of the way while Yildrim made the call.
The flop came K♠5♥5♠ Yildirim checked, Neugebauer bet 6,000, Yildrim check-raised to 15,000 and Neugebauer called.
Both players checked the 4♦ turn leading to the J♥ river. Yildirim bet 60,000 and Neugebauer made the call.
Yildirim immediately mucked and although he didn't have to show, Neugebauer showed down 10♥10♦ before scooping in a colossal pot.
Joao Tomas bet 1,500 from under the gun and was called by Joakim Andersson in middle position and Paul Covaciu in the hijack.
The flop came J♦5♣4♥, and Andersson led out for 2,000 that garnered folds from Covaciu and Tomas.
Andersson is fresh off his first-ever WSOP Gold Bracelet after taking down the No-Limit Hold'em Bounty Hunter event in the early hours of this morning winning €70,000 and his seat for this Main Event.
Armin Rezaei raised to 1,500 under the gun and was called by Jan-Peter Jachtmann in the hijack, as well as button Dmitrijs Prohorovs. Johannes Thoni in the small blind then three-bet to 6,500 and all three players called.
Action checked to Prohorovs on the 3♥A♠Q♥ flop and he bet 7,000. Only Jachtmann called to see the 4♠ turn.
Prohorovs then bet 12,300 and Jachtmann lifted up his sunglasses and peered across the table at Prohorovs for a minute before committing the chips. The river was the 3♣ and Jachtmann checked again.
Prohorovs fired out another 10,100 and Jachtmann this time instantly mucked.
With 35,500 in the pot on the turn of 6♣3♠2♣4♠, Merab Meladze moved all in from the hijack and covered Alex Peffly's stack of 66,900 who was sat under the gun.
Peffly was shocked by the shove. His eyes nearly popped out of his head like a scene from Tom and Jerry. Peffly took around 90 seconds before making the call.
Alex Peffly: J♣J♦
Merab Meladze: A♣K♣
Peffly was ahead but needed to dodge an ace, king, a club to win the hand, a non-club five would have provided a chop pot. The river card was black but it was the 9♠ to secure the double up for Peffly, which caused Meladze to slam the table in frustration.
