Simone Andrian
Simone Andrian

Last year at King’s Resort, Simone Andrian took down the coveted 2024 World Series of Poker Europe Main Event bracelet and a career-best score of €1,300,000.

Andrian became the 15th player in history to win the WSOPE Main Event, triumphing over a field of 768 entrants. He ultimately defeated Urmo Velvelt in a gripping heads-up duel that lasted over three hours and saw the chip lead change hands multiple times.

“It’s amazing. By far the biggest score of my career. I couldn’t be more happy” he said following his victory. "I’ve been playing here a lot and to have that kind of score here feels special.”

Korcak's Stack Gets a Pre-Dinner Boost

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

Jaroslav Korcak raised from under the gun to 40,000 and Jan Bendik called in the next seat. Valerik Malkhasian also came along from the hijack.

The trio saw a flop of 25J where Korcak checked and Bendik bet 60,000. Malkhasian called, as did Korcak to see the 5 turn, where all three checked.

A 6 fell on the river and Korcak wasted no time in sliding out a bet of 100,000, which got a quick fold out of Bendik. Malkhasian wasn't going anywhere, though, and tossed in a chip to make the call.

Korcak then showed KJ for a pair of jacks, and Malkhasian mucked.

Beltran Puts Vizi to the Test

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Pablo Beltran
Pablo Beltran

Pablo Beltran made it 40,000 from the hijack with Robert Vizi calling on the button, Stylianos Karadaglis calling out of the small blind, and Alberto Speranzoni defending his big blind.

After the blinds checked the 777 flop, Beltran fired out a continuation-bet of 45,000. Vizi quickly raised to 110,000, which forced Karadaglis and Speranzoni to fold. Beltran, however, called to see a turn.

Heads-up to the K turn, which checked through for the 9 to roll off on the river. Beltran jammed for Vizi's remaining 320,000, causing Vizi to go into the tank. After burning through all of his time banks, Vizi folded and pleaded for Beltran to reveal his cards.

Beltran didn't, to which Vizi said, "you must have had it then."

Seyed Fazeli Eliminated in 21st Place (€1,860)

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Seyed Fazeli
Seyed Fazeli

Both Seyed Fazeli and Pablo Beltran had put in 81,000 preflop to see a board of 684, where Fazeli shoved out of turn for around 270,000 from middle position. Beltran was in the big blind and insisted that he hadn't checked, but proceeded to check anyway and the shove of Fazeli stood.

After thinking it over, Beltran decided to make the call, which put Fazeli at risk.

Seyed Fazeli: AK All in
Pablo Beltran: J8

Fazeli was behind to the pair of eights of Beltran, and needed to find some help from the dealer to improve. No help arrived as the 107 runout meant Fazeli was out in 21st.

Makarios Avramidis Eliminated in 24th Place (€1,635)

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante
Makarios Avramidis
Makarios Avramidis

Makarios Avramidis raised to 40,000 in early position, Jan Bendik three-bet to 130,000 in the hijack, and Avramidis called.

The flop came KJ3 and Bendik continued for 75,000. Avramidis then moved all in, and Bendik snap-called for 331,000.

Jan Bendik: KK All in
Makarios Avramidis: A10

Bendik had flopped top set but needed to hold up against Avramidis' straight and flush draws. The 7 turn was safe, while the 5 river missed Avramidis and Bendik doubled up.

A few hands later, Jaroslav Korcak raised to 50,000 under the gun and Avramidis called in the big blind.

The flop came Q92 and Korcak bet 85,000. Avramidis moved all in for 140,000, and Korcak called.

Makarios Avramidis: J10 All in
Jaroslav Korcak: 88

Avramidis again couldn't complete a straight draw as the 4 turn and 7 river kept Korcak's eights in the lead, sending Avramidis to the rail.

Fazeli Rivers a Miracle to Stay Alive

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/20,000, 20,000 ante

When it folded around to John Bizzarro in the small blind, he jammed to put Seyed Fazeli all in from the big blind. Fazeli called for his stack of around 160,000 and the cards were revealed.

Seyed Fazeli: K8 All in
John Bizzarro: KJ

Both players held king-high, but Fazeli was dominated by Bizzarro and needed some hearts or an eight to remain seated.

A flop of 7104 didn't change anything, and the J turn meant only a nine on the river would save Fazeli. Fazeli began to get out of his seat just as the 9 rolled off on the river to give him a straight.

Bizzarro put his head in his hands as around a third of his stack was sent over to Fazeli.
