The Wynn Summer classic kicked off its 30 event series last month and the largest buy-in/guarantee is on the schedule today as the first flight of the Wynn Millions gets underway at noon local time. The tournament boasts a $10,000 buy-in with a massive $10 million guarantee and is the staple event of the series.
"In its inaugural year, we expect the Wynn Millions to attract professional and seasoned amateur players from around the world," said Ryan Beauregard, executive director of poker operations at Wynn Las Vegas. "We’re hopeful that the super-sized guarantee of $10 million emphasizes our goal of making the Wynn Millions a staple event for years to come, adding to our already world-class tournament schedule."
The Wynn Millions is a six-day No-Limit Hold’em event starting today and will play through Saturday, July 3, 2021. Anyone over the age of 21 may register for the tournament at the Wynn Las Vegas Poker Room located in Encore.

Tables will be played 9 handed, or in accordance with the current Nevada Gaming Control Board health and safety directives, as applicable.
Each starting flight will play ten 60-minute levels and all advancing players will play five 90-minute levels on Day 2. Days 3 and 4 will play six 90-minute levels, with the remaining field playing until the final table is reached on Day 5. The final day will play until a winner is declared.
Players who advance from Day 1A or Day 1B will play Day 2AB, scheduled for Monday, June 28 at 12 p.m. Players who advance from Day 1C will play Day 2C scheduled on Tuesday, June 29 at 12 p.m. Day 3 will combine all remaining players on Wednesday, June 30 at 12 p.m.
Day 1a kicks-off today at noon local time, where players will begin with 40,000 in chips with blinds starting at 100/100/100. There will be 10-minute breaks after every two levels and a 60-minute dinner break at the end of Level 6. Registration will remain open until the beginning of Level 9 (approximately 9:40 p.m.) allowing players one re-entry until then.
The three starting days are scheduled to play through 10 levels lasting 60-minutes. Once the final level is completed tonight, all remaining players will bag up for the night and return for Day 2AB action on Monday, June 28th at noon.
Any player who has advanced to Day 2 is prohibited from entering a subsequent starting flight.

There are plenty of recognizable faces in the field including Poker Hall of Famers Erik Seidel and Daniel Negreanu, former WSOP Main Event winners Joe Cada and Ryan Riess, and poker author Maria Konnikova, who was a recent guest on the PokerNews Podcast.
Late registration will remain open until the start of Level 9.

In the first hand of the day, Maria Konnikova raised to 300 only to have Tony Wasaya three-bet to 1,300. Arthur Morris called, Konnikova folded, and it was heads-up action to a rainbow flop.
Wasaya continued for 7,000, Morris called, and the appeared on the turn, which put out a potential flush draw.
Wasaya bet 13,000 and then snap-called when Morris raised all in.

Morris had flopped a set and cracked aces after the river bricked. Just like that, the first player fell in the 2021 Wynn Millions.

There was heads-up action between Daniel Negreanu from the cutoff and Walter Enlow on the button with a completed board of showing.
A series of raises saw Negreanu move all in and Enlow called off his stack holding slightly less then Negreanu.
Negreanu quickly rolled over the nuts and Enlow tossed into the muck.

Cliff Josephy raised to 400 from under the gun, Steven Hensley called from the hijack and Peter Neff defended his big blind bringing about the flop.
Action was checked to Josephy who continued for 400 and Hensley raised to 1,100. Neff folded while Josephy called and the fell on the turn.
Josephy check-called the 1,500 bet from Hensley and the river was checked by both players. Hensley rolled over for two-pair but Josephy held a better two-pair to win the pot.

While PokerNews is here offering live updates from the Wynn Millions, we’d be remiss if we didn’t tell you about some of the side events that have taken place out over the past month at the Wynn Summer Classic.
In Event #23: $1,600 NLH, 1,312 runners created a $1,902,400 prize pool that was paid out to the top 134 players. Among those to cash but fall short of the final table were Humberto Brenes (120th - $3,824), Jordan Cristos (93rd - $4,853), Timothy McDermott (31st - $9,980), Richard Bai (14th - $11,357), and Robert Peacock (10th - $26,312).
In the end, it was California native George Antonakos who collected every chip in play to capture the first-place $293,530 payday.

There was heads-up action between Sadat Reza on the button and Timothy McDermott from the small blind. McDermott was facing a 8,200 bet from Reza with a completed board showing.
With 8,200 already in the pot, McDermott called and the two players tabled their hands. McDermott rolled over which was good enough to win the pot as Reza tossed into the muck.
