Level 21 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

In the hijack, Mike Sowers bet 55,000 on an {a-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} flop and Kevin Song called on the button. Sowers slowed down on the {k-Clubs} turn and checked. Song bet 75,000 and Sowers called. on the {2-Hearts} river, Sowers check-called 105,000 more but couldn't beat {k-Spades}{j-Clubs} for two pair.

Palmer Stays Afloat

Level 21 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Ben Palmer got his last 120,000 in under the gun and was called by Eric Afriat in the cutoff, who showed {7-Spades}{7-Clubs}. Palmer was in good shape with {j-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} and the {3-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{j-Clubs} was a promising flop. However, the {a-Clubs} made it a sweat. Palmer faded the clubs as the {4-Spades} fell.

Liu Raise-Folds to Auer

Level 21 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Qing Liu checked from middle position on a {3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{j-Clubs} flop and Matthias Auer bet 80,000 in the cutoff. Liu check-raised to 200,000 and folded to a shove for his last 375,000.

Song Ships on Manole

Level 21 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Kevin Song defended the big blind then check-called 45,000 on {2-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Spades} against Mihai Manole in the cutoff. Song check-called 100,000 more on the {9-Clubs}, and the {5-Clubs} river prompted him into action. He shoved all in for 375,000. Manole thought about 30 seconds and mucked.

Anderson Doubles, Cai and Winter Bust

Level 21 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

After an early open and two calls, James Anderson shoved all in from the small blind. It was 320,000 and action folded back to Sung Hyun, the last caller, who stuck some chips in.

Hyun: {10-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Anderson: {a-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}

Anderson started to pull back from his seat when the dealer spread a {9-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop but stopped himself as the {7-Hearts} turn gave him a combo draw. The {8-Hearts} delivered what he needed.

In other action, Zhen Cai and Sean Winter busted out.

Ausmus Bluffs it Off

Level 21 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
Jeremy Ausmus
Jeremy Ausmus

With {k-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{3-Hearts} on the felt, there was a bet and call of 45,000 between Jeremy Ausmus under the gun and Matthias Auer in the hijack, with a third player folding. We didn't see who the aggressor was. On the {7-Hearts} river, Ausmus checked and Auer bet 165,000. Ausmus check-raised nearly all of his chips, leaving 60,000 or so back. Auer got a count of 775,000 then called pretty quickly.

Ausmus spun {a-Spades}{10-Hearts} into the middle for a bluff and Auer showed {j-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for a flush.

Shulman First to Go

Level 21 : 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Barry Shulman came in with the shortest stack and his 110,000 was in there pretty quickly with {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts} against the {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs} of Eric Afriat. Afriat found a pair on the {10-Hearts}{q-Spades}{k-Clubs} flop and running sevens didn't change anything.

Welcome to Day 3 of Wynn Spring Classic $3,500 Championship

Matthias Auer
Matthias Auer

Three grueling days of action — two starting flights and one Day 2 that stretched across more than 12 hours — are in the books, and just 34 competitors remain in the Wynn Spring Classic $3,500 Championship. Today, one of them will win $391,370.

The ones who have best positioned themselves for that very handsome payout are Adam Hendrix, Matthias Auer and Ray Qartomy. All three players had banner Day 2s, and they've accumulated about a quarter of the total chips in play between them. Each player has well north of 100 big blinds.

Still, plenty of tough competition remains, so it doesn't figure to be easy. The likes of Jeremy Ausmus, Mihai Manole, Chino Rheem, Jordan Cristos, Ben Palmer, Sean Winter, and Ankush Mandavia are just some of the decorated players remaining in the daunting field.

Everyone is going to have plenty of time to try to build up a tournament-winning stack as action kicks off at noon local time with 10,000/15,000/15,000, with more one-hour levels in store until someone emerges as champ. That figures to take another 13 hours or so, depending on whether a deal is struck.

Stay tuned to PokerNews to see which player scoops the Wynn trophy and joins the list of winners for this event that includes David "Dragon" Pham, Isaac Baron, Eric Baldwin and Ludovic Geilich.
