Aces Full for Hawkins

Level 7 : 500/1,000, 1,000 ante

Maurice Hawkins was in the big blind in a heads-up pot against the under-the-gun player.

Hawkins checked on the flop of {10-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and his opponent bet 3,500. Hawkins called. Hawkins checked again on the {a-Clubs} turn and his opponent checked back.

Hawkins checked a third time on the {10-Diamonds} river and the opponent eyed Hawkins stack before checking back. Hawkins turned over {a-Spades}{10-Clubs} for a full house and gave a triumphant nod before raking in the pot.

The 2022 Wynn Millions is a series comprised of 16 events with more than $15 million in guaranteed prize money. There's a tournament for just about any type of poker player — high stakes, mid-stakes, no-limit hold'em, pot-limit Omaha, bounty events, etc. And there are two seniors events for players aged 50 and above — $400 and $1,100.

On March 1, the $400 Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) $25K GTD tournament attracted 191 entrants and more than doubled the guarantee by generating a $65,895 prize pool. That was reserved for the top 20 finishers including Badr Imejjane (18th - $915), Glen Questrod (16th - $1,011), Anthony Abram (14th - $1,132), Michael Trivett (11th - $1,458), Ari Engel (8th - $1,957), and Daniel Anton (3rd - $7,057).

The tournament came to an end when Canada’s Rishi Makkar bested Brazil’s Daniel Zuazo in heads-up play to claim the trophy and $18,229 first-place prize.

Mowery Cracks Klein's Aces

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

Before the blinds went up, David Mowery opened to 2,000 and Bill Klein three-bet to 4,000 in the big blind. Mowery called.

The dealer spread the {k-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Spades} flop and Mowery ended up getting his 26,700 chips in against Klein.

David Mowery: {a-Spades}{j-Spades}
Bill Klein: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}

Klein had rockets, but Mowery had outs with the nut flush draw, and the {10-Spades} hit the turn right away to complete the draw. The {k-Clubs} completed the board to confirm the result, and Mowery stacked up his chips. Klein was left with around ten big blinds and appeared to bust shortly after.

Set for McKeehen

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante

A player in middle position opened to 2,700 and Joe McKeehen flat-called on the button. The small blind then three-bet jammed a stack of about 25,000 and the initial raiser folded. McKeehen made the call with the opponent covered.

Opponent: {a-Spades}{k-Spades}
Joe McKeehen: {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}

The flop of {4-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} kept McKeehen ahead and the {8-Hearts} on the turn gave him a set to have his opponent drawing dead heading to the {4-Diamonds} river.

Schulman's Wheel Beats Josephy's Set

Level 8 : 600/1,200, 1,200 ante
Nick Schulman
Nick Schulman

With approximately 23,000 in the pot on a completed board of {7-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}, Nick Schulman bet 13,000 in the small blind, and Cliff Josephy raised to 47,000 in middle position. Schulman quickly called.

Josephy revealed {5-Spades}{5-Hearts}, but it was no good against Schulman's {a-Spades}{4-Spades} wheel, and Schulman added the sizable pot to his stack.
