Daniels Cracks Aces to Eliminate Laplante, Take Chip Lead

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Jake Daniels
Jake Daniels

Jake Daniels opened to 8,000 in early position and Ryan Laplante flat-called in middle position, while the player in the small blind also came along.

The small blind checked on the flop of {10-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{9-Hearts} and Daniels continued with a bet of 9,000. Laplante raised to 32,000 and the small blind quickly folded. Daniels re-raised all-in and Laplante snap-called with a smaller stack.

Jake Daniels: {10-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Ryan Laplante: {a-Clubs}{a-Spades}

Laplante's aces had been out-flopped by the set of tens of Daniels and he let out a sigh of frustration as the board ran out {k-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} to send him to the rail.

Daniels has had a hot Day 2c and is now up to nearly 700,000 to give him the biggest stack in the room.

"The rich get richer," someone at the table commented as Daniels raked in the pot.

Schulman Trying to Bounce Back

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Nick Schulman
Nick Schulman

Nick Schulman had dipped to around 50,000, barely more than 12 big blinds not long ago. But he's attempting to build that stack back and he started it in a recent small pot he took down.

The flop showed {2-Spades}{3-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Schulman had checked it over to his opponent on the button, who fired out a bet of 5,300. Schulman then went for a check-raise jam all-in and forced his opponent to fold.

Isaac Kempton
Isaac Kempton

Isaac Kempton was out of position in a heads-up pot against Katie Lindsay on a board of {4-Clubs}{7-Spades}{a-Spades}{j-Hearts}{8-Hearts} with around 60,000 already in the middle.

Kempton checked on the river and Lindsay put out a bet of 40,000. Kempton took a few seconds and called.

Lindsay showed a bluff with {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} for queen-high and Kempton tabled {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for top pair to win the pot.

Deeb's Rally Takes a Tumble

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Action was caught on a board of {q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and Freddy Deeb was all-in for around 130,000. Jeremy Joseph made the call for the 54,000 he had left, while a third player folded.

Jeremy Joseph: {7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}
Freddy Deeb: {8-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

The river was the {8-Hearts}, which gave Deeb two-pair, but Joseph had turned a straight and he won a huge pot. Deeb's brief run of good fortune has been put on hold. He's now back to sitting on a short stack.

Kim Wins Flip to Take Out Kornuth

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Chance Kornuth
Chance Kornuth

Chance Kornuth was down to around 60,000 and got all of his chips in the middle in a pot against Brian Kim, who had him covered.

Chance Kornuth: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Brian Kim: {a-Clubs}{q-Spades}

The flop came {6-Spades}{j-Spades}{5-Diamonds} to keep Kornuth in the lead with his nines and the {5-Hearts} on the turn didn't change things. However, the {q-Diamonds} on the river gave Kim a better pair and Kornuth was eliminated.

Polychronopoulos Lays Down Ace-Queen, Gets a Lecture

Level 13 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Athanasios Polychronopoulos opened to 10,000 in early position and the player on the button moved all-in for around 100,000.

"Alright my friends, it's been fun. I'm all-in," he announced before pushing his stack to the middle.

The action folded back to Polychronopoulos, who thought through his decision as his opponent chatted with Freddy Deeb from a few tables over.

"Are you all-in?" Deeb asked his friend.

"Yep," the player told Deeb.

Polychronopoulos took a minute or so before folding ace-queen offsuit face-up on the table. The opponent showed {a-Spades}{k-Spades} and expressed bewilderment over what Polychronopoulos was considering calling with.

"My friend, what are you even thinking about?!" he said. "That's an instant fold. It's not even suited."

"I had a big hand," shrugged Polychronopoulos.

"Not in my book," the opponent countered.
