Pillai Raises Out Opponent

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante

Action was picked up on the turn with the board reading {10-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{3-Spades}{6-Clubs}. Shankar Pillai was facing a bet of 55,000 from his opponent who had bet from the big blind into a pot of about 250,000.

Pillai thought for a while before he raised it to 170,000. His opponent thought for some time before he folded and Pillai added more to his burgeoning stack.

Bagosy Nearing One Million

Level 20 : Blinds 10,000/15,000, 15,000 ante
John Bagosy
John Bagosy

A player opened to 30,000 from under the gun and was called by John Bagosy in the small blind as well as a player in the big blind.

Bagosy led out for 45,000 on a flop of {7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{5-Hearts}, which was enough to elicit folds from both of his opponents, edging Bagosy's stack closer to the 1,000,000 mark.

Bagosy, a philanthropist known for donating his winnings to cancer research, was kind enough to inform PokerNews that he has already collected three bounties today totaling $12,500 and with his current big stack is well placed to score more big bounties as the day progresses.

Level 19 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

The remaining 125 players have been sent on their first 20-minute break of the day. They will return to blinds of 10,000/15,000 with a 15,000 big blind ante. Though one $100,000 bounty is off the table two more remain up for grabs, meaning that there is still everything to play for.

Stoenescu Binks Top Bounty

Level 19 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante
Andrei Stoenescu
Andrei Stoenescu

The first of three $100,000 bounties is off the table as Andrei Stoenescu just pulled one of the coveted envelopes out of the drum. He jumped up and down in excitement as he was handed an enormous (in more than one sense of the word) cardboard check.

When asked what he was going to do with the money, Stoenescu said "there's still two bounties to go". In any event, he cannot be too disappointed if he ends up taking only one of the top bounties home to Romania.

A player in middle position opened to 24,000 and Danny Wong in the big blind moved all in for 225,000. Martin Finger
Martin Finger

Martin Finger in the small blind was all in and at risk against two opponents, one in the big blind and one on the button. With the board reading {k-Spades}{a-Spades}{9-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} Finger held {a-Clubs}{4-Hearts} but was beaten to the pot by the big blind player who had {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for the superior kicker, bringing the German pro's day to an early close.

Kamel's Ascent Continues

Level 19 : Blinds 6,000/12,000, 12,000 ante

Tamer Kamel opened to 24,000 from early position and faced a three-bet to 70,000 from a player one seat over. Action folded back around to Kamel who made the call to send the two players heads-up to the flop.

Both players checked through the {3-Spades}{q-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} flop to see the {8-Clubs} turn where Kamel took over the betting lead, firing off 80,000. His opponent considered for some time but eventually decided on a fold to send even more chips Kamel's way.
