The Online Railbird Report: Terje “Terken89” Augdal Versus Ta-Chih "socutiesf" Geeng
With the 2011 World Series of Poker Europe in full swing, Europe seems to be the hotbed for poker action at the moment, so it comes as no surprise that the European contingent dominated the high-stakes online headlines this week. Ta-Chih "socutiesf" Geeng and Terje “Terken89” Augdal led the charge.
After a week of ups and downs, Geeng finished as the biggest winner, scoring $323,694 in 12,965 hands across 151 sessions. Other winners included “PimpyLimpy” (+$165,960) and "calvin7v" (+$96,029). Meanwhile, Augdal ended up the second biggest loser of the week, despite besting Geeng in heads-up action. The Norwegian ended up dropping $152,180 in 7,553 hands from 110 sessions. The only other player to lose more was “GARFIELD25,” who had a disastrous 20 minutes against Geeng.
Terkn89 Gets It Done
Last Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011, there was some notable $200/$400 pot-limit Omaha and no-limit hold’em action going on on PokerStars. Even so, the biggest winners of the day, Terje “Terken89” Augdal and Jen “Jeans89” Kyllönen, both made their fortunes at the $25/$50 PLO tables.
Augdal, a well-known Norwegian pro, held steady most of the day before taking on “tanya1604” at the heads-up tables. Their match, which lasted about three hours, saw Augdal score a $114,000 win. However, his biggest hand of the day didn’t come from that battle, but rather from the $50/$100 six-max tables.
The hand began when “nnhheeoo” ($25,446.50) limped under the gun only to have Augdal ($19,671) raise to $366 from the button. The blinds got out of the way, "nnhheeoo" made the call, and the flop fell 6♣A♦J♥. After a check, Augdal fired out $475, "nnhheeoo" check-raised to $950, the Norwegian called, and the 5♠ appeared on the turn.
Augdal proceeded to call a bet of $2,779 from "nnhheeoo," the 2♠ peeled off on the river, and the latter player led out for $8,337. Augdal responded by moving all-in and "nnhheeoo" called, mucking once he saw his opponent’s 5♣4♥3♥7♦ straight. Augdal took the $39,492 pot.
Brian “$tinger 88” Hastings was another Thursday winner, taking in somewhere between $50,000 to $70,000. The biggest loser of the week was "Tanya1604" (-$134,000) after being dismantled by Augdal. Also losing over $100,000 were “mikki696” and Rui “PepperoniF” Cao, who lost $116,000 and $107,000 respectively.
Geeng Continues to Roll
Team PokerStars Online's Ta-Chih "socutiesf" Geeng has been on quite a tear the last few weeks, so it was no surprise to see him in action this week. On Friday, Geeng had some luck against “g??fytwo” at the $50/$100 PLO tables, winning $28,000, and managed to add another $40,000 to that, in a quick 20-minute session against “GARFIELD25.”
In one of the more notable hands, "GARFIELD25" ($23,982.50) raised to $300 on the button and Geeng ($30,504.50) exercised his option in the big blind with a raise to $900. "GARFIELD25" then made it $2,700 to go, Geeng called, and the flop came down K♣J♦5♦. Geeng checked to "GARFIELD25, who bet $3,300, only to be check-raised to $15,299.50. "GARFIELD25" then moved all-in for $21,282.50, and Geeng called.

"GARFIELD25" was sitting with top pair and top kicker, not to mention the nut-flush draw; meanwhile Geeng held a massive wrap. The 7♣ helped neither player, but the Q♣ river gave Geeng a straight and the $47,965 pot.
Needless to say, it took "GARFIELD25" only 20 minutes to become the biggest loser of the day with a $53,000 loss.
On Tuesday, Geeng was busy playing various limits of PLO, and managed to add $80,000 to his bankroll, which he did so in fairly uneventful fashion. There were no outrageously big hands; in fact, his biggest hand occurred at the $50/$100 PLO tables where he was playing three-handed against Ben “Ben86” Tollerene ($10,000) and "antispeed" ($19,891.75). The hand began when Geeng ($18,191) opened for $300 on the button, Tollerene folded the small blind, and "antispeed" exercised his option in the big by making it $950 to go.
Never one to be outdone, Geeng pushed back to the tune of $3,200, "antispeed" called, and the flop came down K♦Q♠4♦, which both players checked. When the 7♠ appeared on the turn, "antispeed" checked, Geeng bet $3,860.30, and "antispeed" check-raised all-in for $16,691.75 total. Geeng made the call and the cards were turned up.

"Antispeed" was ahead with queens and sevens, but needed to sweat the aces and nut-flush draw of Geeng. Even though the river wasn’t a spade, it was the 4♣ to counterfeit "antispeed" and give Geeng the $36,432 pot.
Geeng vs. Augdal
Late Wednesday evening, Ta-Chih “socutiesf” Geeng was back in action and squaring off against Terje "Terken89" Augdal. The latter had been getting the worst of it in recently whenever the two butted heads, but this day was different. Augdal managed a six-figure score off Geeng, one totaling nearly $300,000.
In their most notable hand, Augdal ($80,140) opened for $400 on the button and Geeng ($61,773) three-bet to $1,200 from the big blind. After a call, the 5♦Q♠10♠ was put out on the flop and Geeng immediately bet out $1,873. Augdal responded with a raise to $6,200, Geeng called, and the 7♦ rolled off on the turn.
Geeng checked, Augdal bet $14,798, and Geeng check-raised all-in for $54,373 total. Augdal made the call and suddenly there was a $123,546 pot on the line.

Geeng held an open-ended straight draw in addition to the nut-flush draw and needed to improve to crack Augdal’s flopped set of fives and spade-flush redraw. The 9♠ did give Geeng the straight, but it also completed Augdal’s flush.
Joining Augdal and Geeng in the $100/$200 PLO action were a number of big names including recent European Poker Tour London winner Benny "Toweliestar" Spindler and high-stakes regular Ben "Ben86" Tollerene, who both emerged as winners. On the other hand, Richard “nutsinho” Lyndaker, Ville Wahlbeck and Phil "MrSweets28" Galfond were among those who finished in the red.
