The Online Railbird Report: "wilhasha" Wins $239,000 in Slow Week

The high-stakes online action tends to slow during the World Series of Poker, and we must admit there was a little dip this past week. Nonetheless, there were still enough players mixing it up to create some interesting hands and storylines. Chief among them was “wilhasha,” who was the week’s biggest winner after banking $239,832 in 12,990 hands spread across 45 sessions.

Joining him on the winning side of things were Terje “Terken89” Augdal (+$152,490 in 59 sessions/4,861 hands), Ignat “0Human0” Liviu (+$116,232 in 97 sessions/4,431 hands) and Phil “takechip” D’Auteuil (+$111,491 in 13 sessions/4,114 hands).

In contrast, “terryhsu” was the week’s biggest winner after dropping $237,182 in 4,278 hands over 17 sessions. He was joined in the loser’s bracket by “5tgb6yhn7” (-$195,288 in 4 sessions/593 hands), “Zypherin” (-$140,546 in 8 sessions/2,581 hands) and Alexey “LuckyGump” Makarov (-$130,229 in 15 sessions/1,095).

Here We Go Again . . . “Kanu7” vs. “patpatman”

Late last week, Alex “Kanu7” Millar and “patpatman,” continued their heads-up mêlée with 1,125 hands of $200/$400 no-limit hold’em. Millar came out on top to the tune of $209,000, enough to make him the day’s biggest winner. Not surprisingly, “patpatman” finished as the day’s biggest loser with a $191,000 loss.

In one of their more notable hands, “patpatman” ($107,671.60) was on the button and opened for $800, Millar ($56,340.80) called and the flop fell 3♦8♥8♣. Millar proceeded to check-raise “patpatman’s” $958.80 bet up to $3,400 and then fired out $5,800 on the Q♠ turn after his opponent had called. “Patpatman” not only called the turn bet, but he also called Millar’s $46,340.80 shove on the Q♥ river. “Patpatman” rolled over 8♦J♦ for a full house, but it was no good against Millar’s Q♦9♦ boat and he took the $112,680 pot.

In another hand, Millar ($90,447.60) opened for $800 and was met with a three-bet to $2,800 by “patpatman” ($57,938). Millar not only called that bet, but also called a bet of $3,358.80 on the 5♦7♥10♣ flop. The 5♠ turn saw “patpatman” fire out $9,200, Millar called, and the 5♣ appear on the river. Again “patpatman” bet, this time $24,400, but instead of just calling Millar moved all-in for $75,288.80. “Patpatman” called off his remaining $18,179.20 with A♥10♥ for fives full of tens, but it was no good against Millar’s A♠5♥ quads. With that, Millar laid claim to the $115,874 pot.

Jorgensen Friday’s Biggest Winner

The action was fairly subdued last Friday, though a few notables were in action. Theo “TheoJ” Jorgensen, who played almost 1,000 hands of $50/$1,000 pot-limit Omaha and won $69,000. That made him the day’s biggest winner, though Ignat “0Human0” Liviu was close behind with $64,000.

Despite being the day’s big winner, neither Jorgensen nor Liviu were involved in the biggest pot of the day, which happened at a heads-up $50/$100 PLO table. In that hand, “EireAbu” ($16,350.50) raised to $300 on the button and then called a three-bet to $900 from “longerpig” ($16,647.50).

The 6♦J♦2♣ flop saw “longerpig” lead out for $1,918, which “EireAbu” quickly raised to $7,672. “Longerpig” responded by moving all-in and “EireAbu” called off his remaining $7,738.50), creating a $32,699 pot.

“EireAbu” flopped a set of deuces to crack “longerpig’s” aces, but the A♠ spiked on the turn to give the latter the lead right back. “EireAbu” could still win with either the case deuce or a diamond on the river, but it wasn’t in the cards as the 9♣ blanked. Thanks in part to losing that pot, “EireAbu” finished the day as the biggest loser, down $84,000.

“Wilhasha” Does Work

Eunjong Byun and “wilhasha” were back at in on Saturday as they challenged one another at $100/$200 no-limit hold'em. Per usual, “wilhasha” emerged victorious in the match to the tune of $156,000. That made him the day’s biggest winner while Byun earned the opposite distinction, though he only finished $88,000 down on the day thanks to a profitable morning session.

In their biggest hand, “wilhasha” ($28,239.20) raised to $500 on the button only to have Byun ($26,899.90) three-bet to $1,750. “Wilhasha” made the call and then called a bet of $2,300 on the 6♣9♦9♥ flop, bringing about the 5♦ turn. Byun kept the pressure on with a bet of $5,400, but this time “wilhasha” sprung to life by moving all-in for $24,189.20. Byun had $17,449.90 behind and called off.

It was a bit of a cooler for Byun as both players had flopped trips and he held the inferior kicker. Neither the 5♦ turn nor 10♣ would help Byun, and he watched the $53,798 pot pushed to “wilhasha.”

In another big hand between the two, Byun ($24,839.50) raised to $400 on the button and then called a three-bet to $1,400 by “wilhasha” ($38,568.40). The latter proceeded to bet $1,678.80 on the 8♥3♣2♦ flop, Byun called, and the 2♣ turned. Again “wilhasha” bet, this time $4,200, and Byun called.

When the 4♠ completed the board on the river, “wilhasha” simply moved all-in and Byun called off for $17,560.70 with 10♦8♣. Unfortunately for him, “wilhasha” rolled over 6♠5♠ for a rivered gut-shot straight to take down the $49,677 pot.

“Wilhasha” continued his run good on Monday when he faced off against players like Alex “Kanu7” Millar and “PimpyLimpy.” For the second day in a row he finished atop the leaderboard, this time profiting $129,000. About half of that came from “PimpyLimpy” in an afternoon session, while the other half was courtesy of Millar in an evening match. Those two finished the day down $65,000 and $47,000 respectively.

In the day’s biggest pot, action was heads-up at a $100/$200 NLHE table when “wilhasha” ($100,681.11) opened for $500 and Millar ($40,293.30) three-bet to $1,900. “Wilhasha” responded with a four-bet to $4,400 and Millar called before check-calling a bet of $3,400 on the A♠3♠6♦ flop.

The 2♠ turn saw Millar check-call another bet, this time $8,900, before he check-called off his last $23,593.29 on the 2♣ river. “Wilhasha” revealed A♦K♠ for aces and deuces with a king kicker, which bested Millar’s jack kicker. Ship the $80,585 pot to “wilhasha.”

While Millar didn’t fare too well on Monday, he returned for revenge on Tuesday as he and “wilhasha” played 3,261 more hands, which took approximately eight hours to play. Millar managed to erase the prior day’s losses by winning $94,000 and finishing as Tuesday’s biggest winner. “Wilhasha’s” hot streak came to an end as he dropped $89,000 and took the biggest loser honors.

In Tuesday’s biggest pot, Millar ($57,460.95) raised to $400, “wilhasha” ($94,342.17) three-bet $1,400, and Millar four-bet $3,800. Not to be outdone, “wilhasha” five-bet $10,200, though Millar refused to back down and moved all in. “Wilhasha” made the call and the cards were turned up:

Given Millar emerged as the day’s biggest winner, you probably expect him to get lucky in this hand. While the 10♥7♥J♠ gave him a gut-shot straight draw and reinforced this concept, the 2♠ turn and 5♣ river would both blank, giving the pot to “wilhasha.”

Millar may not have won the biggest pot of the day, but what does it matter when you finish as the day’s biggest winner? With that said, if big pots mean something to Millar, then he was no doubt happy to pull in the second biggest of the day.

That hand began with Millar ($216,237.05) opening for $400 and “wilhasha” ($48,727.50) three-betting to $1,400. Millar made the call and then fired out a bet of $2,000 when “wilhasha” checked the A♠10♦7♥ flop. The latter made the call and then checked the 5♠ turn, giving Millar the chance to bet $4,800. “Wilhasha” woke up with a check-raise to $13,800, Millar called, and the 6♥ peeled off on the river. “Wilhasha” pushed his last $31,527.50 with A♣5♣, but Millar called with the superior A♥7♠ and took down the $97,453 pot.
