The Hollywood Poker Open Comes to Charles Town Races in West Virginia 0001

Season 2 of the Hollywood Poker Open (HPO) has been growing with every stop, and the last $1,800 HPO Regional Main Event held in St. Louis was won by none other than 2003 World Series of Poker Main Event champion Chris Moneymaker.

The next stop on the tour kicked off on Thursday and will be running through Sunday, March 30. That means there's still plenty of time to get in on the action. Located just about an hour from Baltimore and 70 minutes from the Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia area, the Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races in Charles Town, West Virginia will play host to a jam-packed schedule of 34 events.

The marquee feature event will be the $1,800 HPO Regional Main Event that begins on Saturday, March 29. As you've come to expect for Season 2 of the HPO, the PokerNews Live Reporting team will be on hand to provide live coverage of the Regional Main Event that will once again feature Moneymaker.

Lee Childs, who finished seventh in the 2007 WSOP Main Event for $705,229, will also be on hand. In fact, Childs is already diving into some of the HPO Charles Town events and busted in 15th place in the opener, just outside the money. Last May, Childs' family moved to Charles Town to be closer to his in-laws, and that made Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races his home casino.

"I’ve never been able to play a tournament series and sleep in my own bed every night, so I am really looking forward to March in Charles Town," Childs told PokerNews in an interview discussing the HPO.

It's also worth noting that Childs isn't the only one with any poker ability in his family. In the first event of the series — $300 No-Limit Hold'em Deep Stack — Bill Childs, Lee's father, placed second behind Michael Melkersen.

On Friday, the $555 No-Limit Hold'em Deep Stack will kick off with the first of three starting flights, the second two of which will take place on Saturday. This event should draw and exciting turnout and will be one your surely don't want to miss if you're in the area.

Don't forget that each HPO Regional Main Event winner will also receive entry into the $2,500 HPO Championship Event at The M Resort Spa Casino in Las Vegas in June. Last summer, the Championship Event attracted 631 entries, generated a prize pool of over $1.4 million, and was won by Ana Marquez for $320,189.
