Moe Moeini Wins WSOP Circuit IP Biloxi Main Event for $106,101

The third stop of the 2014/2015 World Series of Poker Circuit came to an end on Monday at the IP Biloxi in Louisiana. After a full weekend of play in the $1,675 Main Event, [Removed:321] Moeini emerged victorious over a field of 301 entrants to win the his first gold ring, $106,101 in prize money, and a seat into the season-ending National Championship.

According to the WSOP Blog, action resumed in Level 25 (12,000/24,000/4,000) and it didn’t take long for the first elimination to occur. It happened when Roger Morris raised to 60,000 from early position only to have Timothy Miles three-bet to 130,000 from the button. After the blinds folded, Morris moved all in for approximately 400,000 and Miles snap-called.

Morris: 8♠8♥
Morris was in desperate need of an eight, but it didn’t materialize as the board ran out a dry 3♦2♠6♦J♦Q♣. Morris missed and was eliminated in ninth place for $9,793.
Not long after, circuit regular Corrie Wunstel was crippled after his K♠Q♠ failed to hold up against the K♥J♠ of Lance Jones, and then he was bounced in eighth place by Moeini, who began the final table as a big chip leader.
From there, Larry Hirons and Thomas Doussan fell in seventh and sixth place respectively, and then Jones followed them out the door in fifth. It happened in Level 27 (20,000/40,000/5,000) when Brandon Newsome opened for 110,000 from the cutoff and then called when Jones moved all in for roughly 500,000 from the big blind.

Jones got it in good, and he even paired his ace on the A♣4♣K♥ flop. However, Newsome picked up a straight flush draw. The 2♦ turn gave Newsome even more outs, and he found one when the 5♥ river gave him a winning straight. Jones took home $26,422 for his fifth-place finish.
Anthony Smith was the next to go after his A♦3♠ failed to overcome the 7♦7♣ of Moeini, and then Miles took his leave in third place when he lost a big race holding the A♥Q♦ against the J♠J♣ of Newsome. That left Newsome holding a 3-1 chip lead heading into heads-up play, but Moeini wasn’t going down without a fight.
Moeini managed to even the stacks, and then from there pulled out to a 5-1 chip lead. The chips would fluctuate back and forth for nearly three hours, and then with the blinds at 40,000/80,000/10,000, Moeini limped the button, Newsome checked his option, and the flop fell Q♦10♦8♣. Newsome checked, Moeini bet 80,000, and Newsome called to see the 5♥ turn.
Newsome checked once again, and Moeini kept the pressure on with a bet of 115,000. Newsome responded by check-shoving for roughly 900,000 and Moeini made the call with the 10♠6♠ for a pair of tens. Newsome tabled the 8♦3♥ for an inferior pair, and that meant he needed to catch the river to stay alive. The dealer burned one last time and put out the 9♦. Newsome missed and had to settle for runner-up and a $65,603 consolation prize.
