The Online Railbird Report: "JayP-AA" Over a Million; Amundsgard in Action, and More

Ola "Odd_Oddsen" Amundsgard

In last week's Online Railbird Report, we reported that "JayP-AA" had taken over the top spot on the 2015 yearly leaderboard. Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies, who if you recall verbally berated Dan "w00ki3z." Cates last week, previously sat atop that leaderboard, but a few bad weeks saw him slide back down.

Prior to his downswing, Sahamies was the first player to reach over $1 million in earnings on the year, a feat "JayP-AA" equaled this week after adding $141,115 (17 sessions/971 hands) to his bankroll. That was enough to make him the week's second-biggest winner, with top honors going to Mikael "ChaoRen160" Thuritz for the second week in a row. Thuritz, who won $247,647 last week, won $233,879 in 7,108 hands over 39 sessions on PokerStars. Meanwhile, Phil "RaiseOnce" Ivey won $126,786 on PokerStars, but ended up losing $70,497 on Full Tilt.

Speaking of FTP, Jean-Robert Bellande, who won $121,457 on the site last week, gave it all back and then some this week after dropping $143,286 in 283 hands over two sessions. That was enough to make him the week's biggest loser. As for biggest winner on FTP, that was Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond, who won $120,134 in 3,920 hands over 14 sessions.

Amundsgard Cleans Up on PokerStars

On Thursday, April 2, Ola "Odd_Oddsen" Amundsgard finished as PokerStars' biggest winner after banking $60,600 in one hour at the $200/$400 pot-limit Omaha tables. It was there he took on Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies and Isaac Haxton and played a couple of six-figure pots. Check them out:

Hand #1: In the biggest pot of the match, Amundsgard ($60,171.62) opened for $1,000 on the button and Haxton ($93,786.20) and Sahamies ($124,309.49) called from the small and big blinds respectively. When the flop came down K75, Haxton led out for $2,426.25, and both his opponents called to see the 10 turn.

Haxton bet again, this time $10,513.75, Sahamies called, and Amundsgard raised to $52,568.75. Haxton folded, Sahamies called, and the 2 completed the board on the river. Sahamies led out with a bet, and Amundsgard called off his remaining $4,176.62 with the 7765 for trip sevens. Unfortunately for him, it was no good as Sahamies had rivered a flush with the K6J4 to claim the $132,523.24 pot.

Hand #2: Amundsgard ($69,696.05) raised to $1,000 on the button, Haxton ($12,540.20) folded from the small blind, and Sahamies ($235,951.06) three-bet to $3,440 from the big. Amundsgard called and then bet $5,632.55 after Sahamies checked the 28K flop. A call was made, and then Sahamies check-called bets of $14,306.67 and $36,338.94 on the 9 turn and 4 river respectively. Amundsgard tabled the KJQ8 for kings and eights, and it was good enough to win the $119,876.32 pot as Sahamies sent his cards to the muck unseen.

Finally, here's a bonus hand that nearly reached six figures when "Trueteller" took on "fireitup87" in a game of $100/$200 no-limit hold'em.

Kostritsyn & Amundsgard Clean Up Over the Weekend

Last weekend, both Alexander "joiso" Kostritsyn and Ola "Odd_Oddsen" Amundsgard did well winning $122,500 and $113,000 respectively. The former won on PokerStars putting in over 3,000 hands at the $400/$800 8-game and 2-7 triple draw tables. It took the Russian nearly 20 hours to do it, and during that time he took on a plethora of notable players including Patrik "Fake Love888" Antonius, Chun Lei "SamRostan" Zhou, and Daniel "w00ki3z." Cates, just to name a few.

As for Amundsgard, the Norwegian's profit came from 199 hands of $200/$400 PLO on Full Tilt Poker against Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies and Ben "Ben86" Tollerene. The match only lasted 105 minutes, and Amundsgard logged off as the only winner.

In other news, "bajskorven87," who has opted out of having his long-term results tracked, finished third on the leaderboard after winning $71,400 at the $50/$100 PLO tables on PokerStars. Here's a look at a couple of his more notable pots.

Hand #1: "bajskorven87"($13,189.05) raised to $300 on the button and "Maroonlime" ($10,260.79) called from the big blind to see a flop of A65. "Maroonlime" checked, "bajskorven87" bet $398.66, and "Maroonlime" check-raised to $1,375.38. A call was made and then "bajskorven87" called a bet of $2,846.44 on the 4 turn. When the K completed the board on the river, "Maroonlime" moved all in for $5,738.97 and "bajskorven87" called. "Maroonlime" showed the 2277 for a pair of sevens, and he watched the $20,521.58 pot pushed to "bajskorven87," who held the nuts with the A997.

Hand #2: "bajskorven87" ($39,182.57) limped the button and then called when "Maroonlime" ($16,466.46) exercised his option with a raise to $300 from the big blind. The 598 flop saw "Maroonlime" bet $418.60, "bajskorven87" raise to $1,400, and "Maroonlime" call to see the 7 turn. "Maroonlime" proceeded to check-call a bet of $2,500 and then check-called one of $5,200 on the 4 river. "bajskorven87" tabled the 106K3 for a straight, and it was good enough to win the $18,800 pot as "Maroonlime" mucked his cards.

"JayP-AA" Win $157,200 in Tuesday Action; Moves Over $1 Million on the Year

On Tuesday, April 7, "JayP-AA" topped the daily leaderboard with a $157,200 win at the $50/$100 pot-limit Omaha tables against the likes of Rafi "rafaelamit" Amit, Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies, and Ola "Odd_Oddsen" Amundsgard. The win was especially notable as it moved "JayP-AA" over $1 million in winnings for 2015. Sahamies was the first player to reach that mark, but he subsequently dropped back down.

Here's a look at two of the biggest pots played by "JayP-AA."

Hand #1: At a four-handed table, Sahamies ($24,567.96) raised to $600 from the button and "JayP-AA" ($14,675.19) three-bet to $1,900 from the big blind. Sahamies called, the flop came down 6102, and "JayP-AA" bet $1,224.40. Sahamies called and then bet $2,888.99 after "JayP-AA" checked the K turn.

When the 7 completed the board on the river, "JayP-AA" checked and then called off his last $8,661.80 after Sahamies bet big. Sahamies had been representing the nut flush with the A8810, but it didn't work as "JayP-AA" took down the $29,450.38 pot with his KK26 set.

Hand #2: "JayP-AA" ($44,616.12) raised to $700 from the cutoff, Amit ($18,709.50) called from the button, and Sahamies ($19,300) came along from the big blind to make it three-way action to the 62A flop. Sahamies checked, "JayP-AA" bet $1,226.75, and Amit folded. Sahamies made the call and then check-called bets of $3,682.80 and $7,125.25 on the Q turn and 4 respectively. "JayP-AA" tabled the A3Q4 for aces and queens, which was good enough to win the $26,269.60 pot as Sahamies sent his cards to the muck.

Bonus Hand of the Week

On Thursday, April 9, "fireitup87" finished as Full Tilt Poker's biggest winner with $64,300 in profit, which came after squaring off with "bajskorven" for three hours at the $50/$100 no-limit hold'em tables. Here's a look at what turned out to be the biggest pot of the day:
