St. Jude Charity Poker Tournament Attracts Negreanu, Celebs on Nov. 3 0001

The annual St. Jude Against All Odds Celebrity Poker Tournament will take place at Red Rock Casino Hotel & Spa in Las Vegas on Friday, Nov. 3 starting at 6 p.m. Don’t miss your chance to join Daniel Negreanu and a host of non-poker celebrities for a fun evening of entertainment, poker and prizes, all to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The event includes a fancy dinner and premium open bar, a live auction and “entertaining special features” throughout the evening, in addition to the poker tournament. There are $1,050 worth of tickets that individuals can purchase in advance, which include an After Party Ticket ($75), Cocktails and Dinner ($200) and the Initial Poker Buy-in ($750).

Some of the confirmed celebrities who will be in attendance include extreme sports athletes Connor Fields, Gus Kensworthy and Ricardo Laguna as well as actors Joshua Malina, Jennie Garth, Tom Everett Scott, Wille Garson, Philip Boyd, Sean Faris, Kelly Hu, Kenna James, David Sutcliffe and Geoff Stults, who will be the emcee for the event.

Poker Tournament

The no-limit hold'em rebuy and add-on tournament is scheduled to begin around 8:30 p.m. Players start with 5,000 tournament chips for the initial $750 buy-in and late registration is available until the first break. Players may also rebuy if they have 5,000 or fewer chips. Rebuys are $300 for 5,000 additional chips.

When the rebuy period closes at 9:45 p.m., participants may make a one-time add-on to pad their stacks in the name of charity — $500 for 10,000 chips, $1,000 for 25,000 chips, or $1,500 for 50,000 chips.

A Good Cause

According to St. Jude's website, the proceeds of the event "will help ensure that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live."

Negreanu will be one of the big name poker players at the event and he talked to PokerNews about his support for the cause. "St. Jude is like no other place. The research done there is shared around the world. Every hospital in every community benefits and needs our support. It brings me great satisfaction to know that the poker community is coming together to help St Jude focus on what matters most — saving children's lives."
