The Charity Series of Poker (CSOP) is raising money for homeless and orphaned pets in Nevada with two events taking place in Las Vegas this weekend.
The CSOP will first host the "Fur the Love of Comedy" comedy show at Jimmy Kimmel's Comedy Club on Friday, followed by a charity poker tournament at Via Brasil steakhouse on Saturday.
Both events will benefit Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, a no-kill animal shelter in the Las Vegas Valley.
Play Poker for Pets
The charity weekend will kick off on Friday with a stand-up comedy show hosted by Las Vegas comedian Gabe Lopez and featuring comedians Liz Stone and Chris Porter, who is best known for his Ugly & Angry stand-up special on Netflix.
The show will begin at 5:30 p.m. local time and tickets range from $42-$80, with all proceeds going to Nevada SPCA. Tickets can be purchased at charityseriesofpoker.org/105comedy.
Friday's comedy show will be followed on Saturday by "Fur the Love of Poker," a charity poker tournament at Via Brasil Steakhouse that includes an all-you-can-eat dinner and open bar. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the $150 buy-in tournament will kick off at 7 p.m.
The tournament will award $5,000 in cash and over $9,000 in donated prizes, and proceeds will once again go to Nevada SPCA.
"We are so excited that Matt and Charity Series of Poker chose Nevada SPCA as one of their nonprofit recipients," Nevada SPCA Executive Director Dr. Lori Heeren told PokerNews in a written statement. "We are now part of the chosen few and this event will save the lives of homeless pets in our community."
The CSOP is winding down a busy summer that saw the nonprofit hosting its 100th charity poker tournament, as well as an event hosted by American Pie star and conservationist Shannon Elizabeth.
