PokerStars $25M GTD Winter Series Kicks Off on Christmas Day 0001

Winter is here but fear not, for those of you who live beyond the wall of the United States and in a jurisdiction where PokerStars operates, can play in the site’s final series of 2017. PokerStars is wrapping up an eventful year with their third-largest series, guaranteeing over $25 million across 152 events starting on Christmas Day, Dec. 25.

The two-week-long Winter Series runs through Jan. 7 with four separate buy-in tiers, each with 38 events to choose from. Similar to the famous SCOOP design, which consists of three different buy-in levels, Winter Series offers tournaments to fit all bankrolls with micro (up to $5.50), low (up to $55), medium (up to $530) and high (up to $5,200) buy-in events.

With $25.4 million in guarantees, the new series is third only behind their popular WCOOP and SCOOP events, which guaranteed record total prize pools of $60 million and $55 million this year, respectively.

Five Platinum Passes Added

The capstone Main Events on Jan. 7 range from the Micro Main — a $2.20 buy-in with a $50,000 guarantee — on up to the High Main Event — a $2,100 buy-in guaranteeing $1.5 million. To top off the great value, all four Main Event winners will also receive a $30,000 value “Platinum Pass” for the inaugural PokerStars Players Championship (PSPC) to be held Jan. 6-10, 2019.

PokerStars announced last week that the coveted PSPC prize packages — 300 in total — will be awarded throughout the months leading up to the $1 million added PSPC event. The Platinum Passes include the $25,000 tournament entry plus travel expenses and accommodation in the Bahamas.

A fifth Platinum Pass during the Winter Series is reserved for the winner of an All-In Shootout on Jan. 9 at 3:00 p.m. ET open to any player who registered for at least one event in the series.

Qualifying for Winter Series Events

In addition to a wide range of affordable events on the series schedule, PokerStars also announced special $35 Spin & Go’s where players can win Winter Series tournament tickets valued from $55 up to $2,100.

Hundreds of players will also be randomly awarded Winter Series tournament tickets during the New Year’s Eve Magic Freeroll that kicks off at 10:00 ET on Dec. 31. PokerStars will be spreading NYE joy through $15,000 in free giveaways during the free-to-enter tournament.
