Edson Tsutsumi Leads WSOP Online Main Event Final Table; $2.5m Awaits the Winner

After a staggering 27 Day 1's, which brought a total of 4,092 entries, the final table of Event #27: $5,000 MAIN EVENT Online Championship is set, with Brazil's Edson "CrownUpTsu" Tsutsumi Jr. leading the pack.

Tsutsumi is one of two Brazilians at the final table, along with Renan "legal" Meneguetti. The pair are joined at the final table by Joe "assisup4rent" Serock who has two runner-up finishes in WSOP bracelet events and over $750,000 in WSOP cashes.

Espen "COVFEFE-19" Jorstad and Christine "Yunaa" Do are the only players at the final table who cashed in last year's WSOP Online Main Event, with Serock the only player to have cashed in the WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas (2009 & 2011).

The final table resumes on September 11th at 17:00 GMT, with the winner walking away with over $2.5 million in prize money.

Event #27: $5,000 MAIN EVENT Online Championship Final Table

Day 2 began with 720 players who survived the Day 1 qualifiers. Despite the sheer amount of Day 1s, the $20 million guarantee was not met on entries alone, which meant players got to enjoy a $563,000 overlay to match the guarantee.

Notables and GGPoker ambassadors were aplenty to start the day, including Felipe Ramos, Michael Addamo, Chris Moorman, Kitty Kuo, Georgios Sotiropoulos, Lucas and Sam Greenwood, and Kahle Burns to name just a few.

Early eliminations included Chris Moorman who won his second WSOP bracelet earlier this year GGPoker Ambassador Felipe Ramos and Mikita Badziakouski, along with former bracelet winners Kahle Burns, Shawn Buchanan, Anson Tsang, Mark Radoja and Chris Klodnicki.

Day 1 Chip leader Luigi "shadinho94" Shehadeh was closing in on four million in chips but was soon overtaken by Renan "legal" Meneguetti. Recent Super High Roller Bowl Europe champion Wiktor Malinowski also bowed out as the field was trimmed to less than 100 players.

There was a vital double for Anatoly Filatov, but his fellow GGPoker Ambassador Patrik "Egption" Tardif was less lucky as he was eliminated. However, the pace of eliminations was beginning to slow with Dawid Smolka on top.

Several bracelet winners were still in contention to make the WSOP Online final table, but Byron Kaverman, Kartik Ved, Thomas Cazayous and Mike Leah all came up just short.

Tsutsumi took over the chip lead on the final table bubble, while Nikita "VSMPZD" Kuznetsov and Christine "Yunaa" Do acquired crucial doubles. The unfortunate final table bubble boy was Nicolo "Do-WhatYou-lov3" Bartolone, whose ace-king came out second best at the hands of Aleksei "Ha KoJleHu" Vandyshev to bust in tenth.

The remaining nine players have all guaranteed $254,308, with over $2.5 million in prize money awaiting the winner. Here are the full remaining payouts:

As per GGPoker rules, the final table will begin with blinds rolled back to 300,000/600,000 with a 75,000 ante to ensure the average stack is at least 40 big blinds.

The final table will play out to its conclusion on September 11th at 17:00 GMT, where the remaining players will compete for the lion's share of the prize pool and the right to be called a WSOP MAIN EVENT Online Champion. It will be broadcast with commentary on the GGPoker Twitch channel.
