MSPT Returns to San Diego's Sycuan Casino This Weekend for $1,100 Main Event

The Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) returns to Sycuan Casino Resort in El Cajon, California this weekend from January 13-16 to kick off their 13th season with the $1,100 Main Event of the 2022 Showdown Series. The flagship tournament of the series offers a $300,000 guarantee with three opening flights and PokerNews will be on hand to report the entire event.
The opening tilt of the 2022 season marks the return of the MSPT to Sycuan Casino after two successful events as a first-time stop in 2021. The Showdown Series features 10 tournaments and culminates in the MSPT Main Event on January 13 with three opening flights from Thursday through Saturday at 3 p.m. PST each day. The runners who survive the opening flights will combine into Sunday’s Day 2 at 11 a.m.

Players in the $1,100 buy-in Main Event will start with 25,000 in chips and the levels will last 40 minutes. Registration is open until the start of Level 13 on each of the opening flights, and players are allowed one re-entry per day.
Season 13 Kicks Off
Season 13 of the MSPT kicks off on the heels of Kyna England’s dominating performance in 2021. The Chicago-based Player of the Year finished Season 12 with a big win at December’s MSPT Minnesota Poker Open that helped her become the first female to win MSPT’s popular year-long Player of the Year points race. England will look to defend her title at multiple stops throughout 2022.

Sycuan Casino Resort is the first stop on a Season 13 schedule that will take the tour to Bally’s Black Hawk Casino Jan. 19-30 before returning to the Venetian for Poker Bowl VI Feb. 10-12.
