Selouan Denies Astedt as PokerStars WCOOP Boot Camp Explodes Into Action
Table Of Contents
The $9 million guaranteed World Championship Of Online Poker (WCOOP) Boot Camp kicked off at PokerStars over the weekend, and it has not taken long for some stellar names to pad their bankrolls with large scores. Brazilian ace, Rodrigo "SELOUAN1991" Selouan, is one such household name. He triumphed in the $5,200 Titans event and took home $58,483 for his efforts.
Forty-three players bought into the $5,200 Titans event, each vying for a slice of the $215,000 prize pool. The compact field meant only the top six finishers saw a return on their investments, so spare a thought for Denmark's "starwins :)" who fell in seventh and popped the money bubble.
Perennial high-stakes crusher Pascal "Pass_72" Lefrancois was the first entrant to capture some prize money. The French-Canadian banked $11,372 after coming unstuck in sixth place. Austria superstar Thomas "WushuTM" Muehloecker fell in fifth for $16,609 before Leonard "Grozzorg" Maue's latest deep run ended in a fourth-place finish worth $24,258.
Maue's elimination left Swedish online poker legend Niklas "Lena900" Astedt sandwiched between a pair of Brazilians: Selouan and Brunno "botteonpoker" Botteon. The latter crashed out in third for $35,430.
The heads-up duo struck a deal to lessen the pay jumps. Astedt went into the one-on-one battle with a decent chip lead, hence why he scooped $68,845 (only $6,000 less than the original first-place prize) after Selouan defeated him. Selouan took home $58,483 for his victory, less than $7,000 more than the second-place winner was originally meant to pay out.
