Hellmuth's Home Game

Every Monday night, Hellmuth’s Home Game presented by Poker Night in America (PNIA) and sponsored by BetRivers has aired on CBS Sports.

The nationally-televised show, which was filmed at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada and airs weekly at 10:00 p.m. ET / 7:00 p.m. PT until the end of 2025 (Note: the Sept. 18 episode will air at 9 p.m. ET / 6:00 p.m. PT), is unique in that there is no commentary. Instead, the show is carried by table talk from Phil Hellmuth alongside a cast of fellow pros and friends in an intimate, relaxed cash game setting.

PokerNews watched the latest episode – which was the tenth of the season – and compiled a recap of some of the biggest hands and interesting storylines.

Here’s how things stacked up at the start of the episode:

SeatPlayerStackProfit
1Phillip Hellmuth III$4,200-$10,800
2Alex$21,575-$8,375
3Dan “Jungleman” Cates$39,375-$5,625
4Phil Hellmuth$39,625+$29,625
5Xuan Liu$40,225+$4,225
6Randy “3Coin” Sadler$31,725+$1,750
7Nevada$2,875-$12,125

The game was played with $25/$50 blinds with a $50 big blind ante. Here’s a look at some of the biggest hands from the episode.

Jungleman Calls Xuan’s Hand

In the first hand of the episode, Dan “Jungleman” Cates straddled and Xuan Liu raised to $400 from early position with the JJ. Actually folded all the way back to Cates and he three-bet to $800 with the 108 before Xuan put in a small four-bet to $1,400.

Cates called, and the flop came down J29, which gave him an open-ended straight draw and Xuan top set. Cates checked and then called when Xuan continued for $1,500, which brought about the 7 on the turn. Cates made his straight and checked to Xuan, who debated what to do.

“What the f*** do you have here, honestly?” Cates said. “You can only have a set of jacks.”

The two engaged in some back-and-forth table talk before Xuan bet $8,000.

“You’re over-betting? That’s very interesting. I didn’t expect that, by the way,” Cates responded before hitting the tank in silence. He eventually emerged by check-raising all in for $36,475, which Xuan quickly called to create a $78,875 pot.

“I have the nuts,” Cates said before tabling his hand. The two agreed to run it twice, and Xuan was looking to pair the board to fill up. The 4 river on the first didn’t do it, and neither did the K on the second. With that, Cates scooped the largest pot in the history of Hellmuth’s Home Game.

Hellmuth Limp-Raises with Pocket Rockets

With the straddle on, Hellmuth just limped with the AA from the hijack, and 3Coin raised to $300 from the button holding the Q10. Phillip Hellmuth III called out of the big blind after looking down at the Q9, Alex called an additional $200 from the straddle with the Q9, and then Hellmuth sprang to life with a limp-raise to $2,100.

“And the legend learns to bluff,” 3Coin joked before folding. Unfortunately for Hellmuth, he didn’t receive any takers as one by one his opponents folded.

“Alright, let’s see what a flop looked like out of curiosity,” Hellmuth said. The dealer obliged and fanned out J44.

“It’d be a good spot to have the Robbi,” Jungleman joked.

Nevada Hooks Himself a Triple

3Coin raised to $300 first to act with the AQ and Nevada three-bet to $900 right after that with his JJ. Cates called from the small blind with the 1010 and 3Coin four-bet to $2,300. Nevada moved all in for $2,425 total, and Cates called to create a side pot headed to a flop of KK2.

Cates checked, 3Coin did the same, and the 4 appeared on the turn. The former then bet $3,000, and the latter called to create a $6,000 side pot. The 6 completed the board on the river, and Cates bet another $3,000.

“Three thousand for 3Coin,” he proclaimed. Not to be outdone, 3Coin raised to $15,000. Cates folded and 3Coin took down the side pot while Nevada won the main pot to triple up to $7,475.

“Give a Thug a Hug”

Alex put out a blind raise to $200, and Cates did the same for $400. Xuan was on the button with the A4 and four-bet to $1,500. 3Coin called from the small blind with the A6 and the rest of the players folded to make it heads-up action to a flop of 34A.

3Coin bet $3,000 with top pair and then called when Xuan raised to $7,000.

“Alright, I guess I’m all-in in the dark,” Xuan said before sliding in her chips out of turn. The 3 paired the board on the turn, and 3Coin called to create a $37,300 pot.

3Coin only runs it once, and he ended up getting all of his chips back as the 3 appeared on the river to give both players the same full house.

“Can you believe that?” 3Coin said. “Give a thug a hug.”

Broadway for Nevada

In the final hand of the episode, Nevada was first to act after 3Coin had straddled. He looked down at the AK and raised to $1,200, which saw action fold around to 3Coin. He called and the flop fell 10QJ.

3Coin checked his two pair and Nevada, who had flopped the nuts with a Broadway straight, coyly checked behind. When the 5 completed the board on the river, 3Coin checked for a second time and Nevada bet $1,200. 3Coin then check-raised all in and Nevada called off the $3,050 he had behind.

Nevada was looking to avoid a queen and jack on the river, and that’s what he did when the 10 came off. With that, Nevada doubled by taking down a pot worth $11,025.

Here’s how things looked at the end of the episode.
