World Poker Federation Ladies Weekend Runs October 24-26
The World Poker Federation (WPF) is celebrating women in poker on and off the felt through the inaugural WPF Ladies Weekend. Taking place simultaneously in 15 cities across the world, the WPF Ladies Weekend will bring women in poker together during the same weekend to celebrate their successes and compete at the poker tables.
Running October 24-26, the WPF Ladies Weekend will be hosted in Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Colombia, Hong Kong, Nigeria, the Philippines, South Africa, Taiwan, and the United States, with more locations soon to be announced. Each of the 15 stops is organised in partnership with national federations, local associations, and leading venues.
Luana Borges, President of the WPF Women's Committee, is the host of the Brazilian leg. Borges is one of Latin American poker's most influential voices; she cannot wait to host Brazilian poker-playing ladies at the H2 Poker Club in São Paulo, in partnership with the Brazilian Confederation of Texas Hold'em (CBTH).
"The WPF Ladies Weekend reflects exactly what we stand for: breaking barriers, creating opportunities, and amplifying the voices of women in poker," said Borges. "This event is the beginning of a long-term commitment to building a global network where women can lead, inspire, and share the future of the game."
Lupe Soto, Director of Development for the Women's Committee, creator of the Women in Poker Hall of Fame, and host of the United States stop, believes the WPF Ladies Weekend will help women in the poker industry create lasting connections.
"Seeing women from all over the world come together in one weekend to celebrate poker is truly inspiring. The WPF Ladies Weekend showcases talent, leadership, and impact, creating connections that will resonate far beyond the tables."
Soto has been instrumental in arranging WPF Ladies Weekend stops in states such as California, Kentucky, Maryland, Mississippi, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and South Texas.
Although playing poker will be a significant part of the WPF Ladies Weekend, there is much more for women to enjoy if they head to one of the stops. The weekend's schedules are bursting with activities, including workshops and talks, social initiatives, training sessions, cultural experiences, and a chance to network with like-minded ladies of poker.
