Here’s how things stacked up at the start of the episode:
| Seat | Player | Stack | Profit |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Xuan Liu | $16,500 | -$3,600 |
| 2 | Phillip Hellmuth III | $4,200 | -$800 |
| 3 | Randy “3Coin” Sadler | $8,500 | -$19,600 |
| 4 | Nevada | $9,425 | -$5,575 |
| 5 | Dan “Jungleman” Cates | $24,550 | +$14,550 |
| 6 | Phil Hellmuth | $10,725 | +$5,725 |
| 7 | DJ Washburn | $19,250 | +$9,250 |
The game was played with $25/$50 blinds with a $50 big blind ante, and more often than not a $100 straddle was on. Here’s a look at some of the biggest hands from the episode.
First Blood to 3Coin
In the first hand of the episode, Randy “3Coin” Sadler limped under the gun with the K♦Q♥ and Nevada raised to $500 next to act with his A♥K♣. Dan “Jungleman” Cates came along from the hijack with the 6♦4♦ and action folded back to 3Coin, who called to make it three-way action to a flop of Q♦3♣K♥.
3Coin checked top two pair, Nevada checked top pair, and Cates bet $500 with the worst hand. 3Coin check-raised to $2,000, Nevada called, and Cates got out of the way, which brought about the 9♠ on the turn.
3Coin checked, Nevada did the same, and the 4♣ completed the board on the river. The former bet a small $600 and the latter just called. With that, 3Coin took down a pot worth $7,325.
Xuan Takes on Hellmuth
3Coin looked down at the 10♠10♣ under the gun and just called. Cates came along with the 4♦3♦ from the hijack before Hellmuth raised to $400 from the cutoff with the 8♦8♣. DJ Washburn called from the button with the 9♦7♦ and then Xuan Liu three-bet to $2,000 with the A♦A♠ in the small blind.
Surprisingly, 3Coin folded, Cates did as well, and action was on Hellmuth hit the tank before calling. Washburn got out of the way and it was heads-up action to a flop of 4♣Q♣2♥. Xuan took the lead with top pair of queens and continued for $1,600, which Hellmuth called to bring about the 10♦ on the turn, a card that would’ve given 3Coin a set.
Nonetheless, Xuan bet again, this time $2,700, and Hellmuth paused for a few beats before calling and leaving himself $3,775 behind. When the K♦ completed the board on the river, Xuan checked and then took down the $13,200 pot after Hellmuth checked behind.
3Coin Gets $3,000 Out of Hellmuth
The straddle was on when 3Coin called from the hijack with the A♥7♠ and Cates raised to $500 with the K♥8♥ on the button. Hellmuth came along from the small blind after looking down at the 9♦9♣, 3Coin called, and it was three-way action to a flop of A♠A♦3♣.
Hellmuth checked and 3Coin did the same with trip aces. Cates checked behind and the 7♣ appeared on the turn. Hellmuth led out for $600 and 3Coin, who improved to a full house, just called.
Cates got out of the way and the 5♦ completed the board on the river. Hellmuth bet $900 and 3Coin said, “My brand is $3,000.”
Hellmuth called the raise and 3Coin took down the $8,900 pot.
“See If You Can Run the $75 Up”
Phillip Hellmuth III raised to $350 from the button with the K♠10♦ and 3Coin just called from the small blind with the superior A♥K♣. The K♥J♠A♦ flop gave 3Coin top two pair and he bet $300, which Hellmuth III called with his middle pair and gutshot straight draw.
When the 8♥ appeared on the turn, 3Coin bet another $300 and again Hellmuth III called, which brought about the 6♠ on the river.
3Coin checked, Hellmuth III bet $500, and the former check-raised to $1,500. The latter had $1,075 behind and thought for a bit before calling only to lose the $5,100 pot.
“Terrible call,” Hellmuth III lamented. “I’ll be out for a little bit.
“Phillip, see if you run the $75 up,” his dad recommended, referring to the three green $25 chips the young Hellmuth had behind.
Hellmuth Goes to Broadway
In the last hand of the episode, Hellmuth III was all in for $100 with the 7♠7♥, and 3Coin raised to $300 with the J♦10♦. Nevada called next to act with the 4♠3♠ before Cates made it $1,200 to go with the 8♥8♣ from the cutoff. Hellmuth called from the button with the K♦Q♠, Xuan called with the 9♠9♦ in the big blind, and 3Coin called the additional $900.
Nevada got out of the way and it was five-way action to the flop of 7♣J♥10♣. Xuan checked, 3Coin bet $3,000, and Cates folded. Hellmuth called off his last $2,600 with his open-ended straight draw and Xuan got out of the way.
Hellmuth III was ahead in the main pot with bottom set, while 3Coin’s two pair was ahead of Hellmuth’s draw. The 5♠ turn was of no consequence, but the A♠ river was as Hellmuth made the nuts to more than double to $10,475.
