Kalshi Partners with Texas' Largest Live Poker Room
The Lodge Card Club in Round Rock, Texas recently announced a partnership deal with Kalshi, the first-ever regulated prediction market in the U.S.
What this means for poker players is there is now a way to get in on the action during the Poker at the Lodge livestreams without playing in the game or buying action on the players at the table. This is possible through trading contracts on the outcome of the livestreams.
Partnering with The Lodge Card Club
The Lodge Card Club is Texas' biggest room, and one of the largest in the U.S., with room for over 80 tables in a newly renovated social club. Doug Polk, Andrew Neeme, and Brad Owen are among the high-profile co-owners of the business, which operates a second location in San Antonio.
Inside that spacious Austin-area card room is a state-of-the-art livestream studio where daily low to high-stakes games take place on The Lodge's YouTube channel, which has nearly 240,000 subscribers. The games often feature some big name pros such as Polk, Nik Airball, or vloggers Ethan "Rampage" Yau and Corey Eyring. Fans can now sweat or anti-sweat their favorite (or least favorite) players in these juicy poker games with Kalshi.
How it works is, prior to the start of a Poker at the Lodge stream, trading is offered on various predictive contracts related to the livestream. Poker fans can predict who will win or lose the most money during each livestreamed session. By doing so, they can profit off their expertise at Kalshi.
Trading on The Lodge games at Kalshi isn't limited to those who reside in Texas. Kalshi, regulated by the Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), is available in most states, including the biggest ones — California, Texas, and Florida. Only residents of Arizona, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Michigan, Montana, New Jersey, and Ohio are excluded.
Kalshi doesn't offer traditional sports betting, and instead is a federally regulated exchange for trading on the outcome of events, including sports, politics, poker, and even the weather.
The prediction markets platform offers yes/no contracts on various events, and the price of each contract is based on current market trends. The Lodge isn't the first livestream to partner with a prediction market platform. Hustler Casino Live recently struck a deal with Polymarket to offer similar contracts on livestream games.
