The "Boss” Takes Control

Since created in 2016, Phua—widely known simply as “Boss”—has been one of the founders and driving forces behind the tour’s rise.

This time, he controlled the action at the table.

Phua’s run through the final table picked up momentum in key spots. His first big moment came when his pocket aces held against the ace-king of Klemens Roiter, sending Roiter out in eighth place and giving Phua an early boost.

From there, he never really let up. As the field tightened, Phua continued to find his spots, including the elimination of Aleks Ponakovs to move a step closer to the title.

Down to three-handed play, he struck again—this time sending Elton Tsang to the rail in third place—to take control heading into heads-up play against Brandon Wilson.

Finishing What He Started

Phua entered heads-up play against Brandon Wilson with momentum—and finished the job.

In the final hand, Phua’s pocket queens held against Wilson’s ace-nine, sealing the victory and the $3,226,000 top prize.

A decade after helping build Triton into poker’s premier high-stakes tour, the "Boss” stood alone at the top of its 10th. Anniversary event.
