Did Poker Player Make the Worst Fold Ever Livestreamed with Quads?
A player on a poker livestream at Texas Card House Dallas made one of the wildest hero folds with quads you'll see all year, and maybe ever.
Unfortunately for "QQQ," the player in question, the hero fold turned out to be a bad fold — a really bad fold. The hand took place during a YouTube livestream in Texas on Tuesday. A massive cooler remiscent to the Gus Hansen versus Daniel Negreanu hand decades ago on High Stakes Poker occurred nearly four hours into the game, but the hand didn't end the way everyone watching expected.
What Was He Thinking?
The hand started with Ryan raising to $150 from the hijack with A♥3♠. "Spooky" called with 6♠6♦ on the button, as did Zak, who had 9♣8♣ in the small blind. QQQ, the straddle, also came along for the ride with 4♠4♦.
Four players went to a flop, which came out 4♠6♥4♥, an absolute cooler. Action checked around, however, and then it would a second time following the A♣ on the turn. The river 3♥ brought out the possibility of a straight flush, and this will come into play in just a bit.
QQQ, who flopped quads, was done slowplaying his monster hand. He fired out a bet of $400. Ryan called with the ace, but Spooky, with a full house, raised to $1,300. Zak didn't have a piece of that board, so he folded. But QQQ was ready to pounce and get some value with his rare hand.
A three-bet to $2,400 would follow. Ryan then folded before Spooky moved all in for $7,565. QQQ had more than double his opponent's stack and seemingly was in a snap-call situation. But he went into a two-minute tank that confused the TCH Live commentators. And it ended with QQQ folding and showing the table quads.
"Oh my f*****g god!" a player at the table shouted after QQQ folded his hand.
The table and announcers were all stunned at what they had seen. Quads could only lose to a straight flush, but it's unlikely Spooky would have checked back a straight flush draw twice given he was the in-position player in the hand.
Spooky went on to turn a $14,600 profit on the session, but he should have lost his entire stack an hour before it ended. QQQ, on the other hand, still won $3,600 in the game, a fraction of what his win could have been. In case you're wondering, TCH Dallas does have a $25,000 bad beat jackpot, but a straight flush losing the hand is the qualifier.
