Tensions at WSOP Europe as Nicky P Gets a Walk On €5,300 PLO Bubble
There was a fascinating spot on the stone bubble of the €5,300 PLO Championship at WSOP Europe, as Nick "Nicky P" Palma, in the big blind with a single big blind behind, was given a walk by the small blind and big stack at the table, Andreas Freund.
As reported by the official WSOP account on X, Freund's fold came after 'some table chat,' with the result being 'tensions boiled over as other short stacks in the tournament were not happy with the situation.'
In the video, Palma, who was a special guest on the 951st episode of the PokerNews Podcast this week, can be heard debating the spot with other players, saying "talk to him" and "I didn't tell him my hand," referring to his opponent in the small blind, while adding, "I had a full orbit still!"
Palma would ultimately survive the bubble to make a min-cash of €10,000 and achieve a 56th-placed finish, while Freund continues to be one of the largest stacks in the 379-entry field ahead of tomorrow's final day.
Many online observers have noted it could be considered a smart move by Freund, with a big stack incentivized to continue exploiting bubble dynamics, while others may consider half a big blind a fold not worth making.
