The Charity Series of Poker (CSOP) is raising money for homeless and orphaned pets in Nevada with a charity event taking place in Las Vegas this weekend.
The CSOP will host a charity poker tournament at Via Brasil steakhouse on Saturday. The event will benefit Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, a no-kill animal shelter in the Las Vegas Valley.
Play Poker for Pets
Saturday will kick off "Fur the Love of Poker," a charity poker tournament at Via Brasil Steakhouse that includes an all-you-can-eat dinner and open bar. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the $150 buy-in tournament will kick off at 7 p.m.
The tournament will award $5,000 in cash and over $9,000 in donated prizes, and proceeds will once again go to Nevada SPCA.
"We are so excited that Matt and Charity Series of Poker chose Nevada SPCA as one of their nonprofit recipients," Nevada SPCA Executive Director Dr. Lori Heeren told PokerNews in a written statement. "We are now part of the chosen few and this event will save the lives of homeless pets in our community."
The CSOP is winding down a busy summer that saw the nonprofit hosting its 100th charity poker tournament, as well as an event hosted by American Pie star and conservationist Shannon Elizabeth.
