Wai Liat Lee is a Malaysian poker player who rose to prominence in 2022, which is when he began frequenting high roller and super high roller events. As of early January 2025, Lee has won more than $20 million from live poker tournaments.
According to The Hendon Mob Database, Lee has live cashes dating back to December 2013. Between then and June 2016, all of Lee's cashes stemmed from tournaments played in the United Kingdom or Ireland. The highlights from that period of Lee's career included a victory in the £330 Deepstack Main Event in July 2015, worth £50,000, and his victory in the 2016 edition of the £550 GUKPT Walsall Main Event, which came with a prize of £34,850.
In March 2020, Lee finished third in the PartyPoker MILLIONS Sochi Super High Roller and walked away with $374,520.
Following the resumption of live poker after the COVID-19 pandemic, Lee began frequenting Super High Roller events. In April 2022, he finished second in a $75,000 NL Short Deck event at the Triton Poker Cyprus series for $840,000. Over the next week, he finished sixth in a $50,000 buy-in event, earning $105,000, and won a $50,000 buy-in event, taking home $513,000.
That bankroll boost gave Lee the confidence and ammunition to continue his super high roller quest. Since then, he has finished second in a $30,000 buy-in event at Triton Poker Super High Roller Series Vietnam for $851,932, he has finished third in a $100,000 buy-in event at the same stop for $710,000, and banked his first seven-figure score ($1,030,000) for a sixth-place finish in the $200,000 Luxon Invitational in Cyprus in May 2023.
In 2025, Lee helped himself to a trio of seven-figure prizes. He scooped $1,372,000 for a fifth-place finish in a $150,000 buy-in event at Triton Jeju in March, and followed that up with a career-best $1,807,000 career-best score in May when he finished third in the $100,000 Triton Montenegro Main Event. In September, Lee finished second in a $200,000 Triton Short Deck event in Jeju for a new career-high score worth $2,465,000.
