Niall Farrell is obviously pumped to be playing in the 888Live Main Event, and got into a hand from the big blind against Robert Wirth.

Wirth checked a flop of {k-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{4-Spades} to the Scotsman who bet 300. Wirth called. The turn was the {10-Hearts} and Wirth checked again. This time Farrell bet 700 and Wirth called again.

The river was the {7-Spades} and Wirth checked a third time and Farrell checked behind.

Farrell showed {k-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} for top pair, but Wirth had turned a flush holding {j-Hearts}{3-Hearts}.

"A good tight check," said Farrell as he got his Main Event up and running.

Petr Jelinek Eliminated from the Main Event

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

In a blind-on-blind confrontation, Petr Jelinek saw a flop with an opponent known simply as Branko.

The flop came {j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Spades} and Branko checked to Jelinek who bet 2,100.

Branko check-raised to 4,600 and Jelinek raised to 8,100.

Branko moved all in and Jelinek called.

Jelinek showed {q-Spades}{8-Clubs} for a flopped straight, but Branko had him beat with a higher straight holding {k-Spades}{q-Clubs}.

The turn was the {3-Diamonds} and the river the {3-Hearts}, and Jelinek became the first casualty of the Main Event.

Patrick Wagner Doubles Up

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Even though antes are yet to kick in with the blinds just 75/150, some players are not afraid of getting their stacks in the middle. That is exactly what happened with Patrick Wagner and his opponent.

Wagner held {q-Hearts}{q-Spades} against his opponent's {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {2-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} and Wagner's full house queens full of sixes were good enough to double up leaving his opponent with just under 10,000 in chips.
