888poker LIVE London

After five starting days in total, the 2018 888poker LIVE Festival London £1,100 Main Event has not only surpassed the guaranteed prize pool of £400,000 but smashed it by more than 50% thanks to 639 total entries thus far, creating a prize pool of at least £632,610. This number may increase slightly still, as the registration remains open until the first hand is dealt and all new participants will receive 12 big blinds worth when the action recommences at 2 p.m. local time at the Aspers Casino at Westfield Stratford City.

Leading the field into the penultimate day is Antonios Onoufriou with 301,500, closely followed by 2018 WSOP Main Event 9th place finisher Antoine Labat (300,500). Day 1c chip leader Tuomo Niskanen is in third place with 275,000 and has a tough table for Day 2 that also includes Benny Glaser, Julien Sitbon, Chris Da-Silva and Ramon Miquel Munoz.

Further notables and big stacks heading into Day 2 include Thomas Muehloecker (253,000), Tamer Kamel (237,000), Fernando Pons (217,000), Eoghan O'Dea (212,500), Christopher Yong (180,500), Florence Allera (164,500), Romain Lewis (153,000), Fraser MacIntyre (144,000) and Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi (142,500).

Team 888poker will be represented by Ana Marquez (95,500), Dominik Nitsche (89,000), Sofia Lovgren (77,000), Parker Talbot (64,500), Vivian Saliba (60,000) and Chris Moorman (55,000). 2018 WSOP Main Event champion John Cynn will enter Day 2 with 76,000 and defending 888poker LIVE London Main Event champion Tom Hall will try the repeat with a stack of 38,500. Don't write the Brit off, as he also spun up one of the shortest stacks into a runner-up finish in the £2,200 High Roller a few days ago.

Saliba Among First Eliminations on Day 2

Vivian Saliba
Vivian Saliba

Norman Gun and Vivian Saliba were among the first to fall on Day 2, the latter was replaced by Catherine Hanna that late-registered. For Saliba, it was a flip with {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs} against the {A-Spades}{K-Clubs} of Seung Hun Ko and the board came {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{K-Spades} to give Ko the superior two pair.

Warris Doubles Through Pina Moya

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Asif Warris and Ali Nejad
Asif Warris and Ali Nejad

On the {Q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Clubs} flop, Asif Warris was all in and at risk with the {A-Clubs}{2-Clubs} and held the superior flushdraw against the {K-Clubs}{10-Clubs} of Carlos Pina Moya.

"Hold motherfucker, hold" Warris said and jumped out of his seat. Probably half of the poker room heard his outburst and the celebration that followed after the {2-Spades} turn and {5-Spades} river.

"That's how you play a flushdraw," Warris added while raking in the pot.

Geilich Busts After Clash with Peters

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Ludovic Geilich
Ludovic Geilich

Ludovic Geilich raised first to act and was called three ways including David Peters on the button. The {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} flop was checked to Peters and his bet was called only by Geilich. The Scotsman check-shoved the {5-Hearts} turn and Peters snap-called, having bet 20,000.

David Peters: {K-Spades}{Q-Spades}
Ludovic Geilich: {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}

The {K-Diamonds} on the river improved Peters to a full house and he left Geilich with crumbs, he was then all in out of the big blind and lost with {K-Spades}{9-Spades} versus {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} on a board of {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

Lee Scores a Double Knockout

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Tamer Kamel
Tamer Kamel

Matin Jouzdani had shoved for 64,000 and tamer Kamel was all in for another 60,000 on top, but Hak-Hyun Lee had them both easily covered as the far biggest stack on the table.

Jouzdani showed {10-Spades}{6-Spades}, Kamel had the {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts} and the Lee had the {K-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} on a flop of {10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. Sure enough, Lee spiked the {A-Diamonds} turn and the {A-Spades} river was a blank to send the Swede to the top of the leader board.

Death By Quads

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante
Orpen Kisacikoglu
Orpen Kisacikoglu

Ian Hunter got it in for 52,000 with the {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and Orpen Kisacikoglu called with the {J-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} from one seat over. The flop of {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}{8-Hearts} gave Kisacikoglu quads and Hunter could all but smile, grab his smartphone and snap a picture while the meaningless {2-Clubs} turn and {6-Diamonds} river rolled off.

Citara Strikes Again

Charlie Carrel
Charlie Carrel

Carlos Citara had doubled through Charlie Carrel not long ago and finished the job from earlier, ending the miracle comeback of Carrel from 3,000 to half the average.

Eventually, Carrel jammed in the cutoff with the {5-Hearts}{5-Clubs} and Citara called in the small blind with the {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}. The board came {K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{6-Spades} and both players flopped a set, sending Carrel to the rail.
