Day 2 of the £1,100 Main Event Kicks Off at 2PM!

888poker LIVE London
888poker LIVE London

After five starting days in total, the 2018 888poker LIVE Festival London £1,100 Main Event has not only surpassed the guaranteed prize pool of £400,000 but smashed it by more than 50% thanks to 639 total entries thus far, creating a prize pool of at least £632,610. This number may increase slightly still, as the registration remains open until the first hand is dealt and all new participants will receive 12 big blinds worth when the action recommences at 2 p.m. local time at the Aspers Casino at Westfield Stratford City.

Leading the field into the penultimate day is Antonios Onoufriou with 301,500, closely followed by 2018 WSOP Main Event 9th place finisher Antoine Labat (300,500). Day 1c chip leader Tuomo Niskanen is in third place with 275,000 and has a tough table for Day 2 that also includes Benny Glaser, Julien Sitbon, Chris Da-Silva and Ramon Miquel Munoz.

Further notables and big stacks heading into Day 2 include Thomas Muehloecker (253,000), Tamer Kamel (237,000), Fernando Pons (217,000), Eoghan O'Dea (212,500), Christopher Yong (180,500), Florence Allera (164,500), Romain Lewis (153,000), Fraser MacIntyre (144,000) and Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi (142,500).

Team 888poker will be represented by Ana Marquez (95,500), Dominik Nitsche (89,000), Sofia Lovgren (77,000), Parker Talbot (64,500), Vivian Saliba (60,000) and Chris Moorman (55,000). 2018 WSOP Main Event champion John Cynn will enter Day 2 with 76,000 and defending 888poker LIVE London Main Event champion Tom Hall will try the repeat with a stack of 38,500. Don't write the Brit off, as he also spun up one of the shortest stacks into a runner-up finish in the £2,200 High Roller a few days ago.

More Than One Dozen New Entries

"It feels weird to walk through a casino, see all the flashy lights and people sit on these chairs," Charlie Carrel said before adding "and here I am, way too early for the start to give it a try with 12 big blinds."

Carrel hasn't played any live poker for half a year and will likely also participate in tomorrow's Super High Roller.

Also among the Day 2 entries is Terry Jordon, who couldn't make it to the Aspers Casino yesterday in order to participate in the last two starting days. Anthony Gardner and David Peters were also late entrants, and more than a dozen players entered to give it a shot.

Norman Gun and Vivian Saliba were among the first to fall on Day 2, the latter was replaced by Catherine Hanna that late-registered. For Saliba, it was a flip with {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs} against the {A-Spades}{K-Clubs} of Seung Hun Ko and the board came {A-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{K-Spades} to give Ko the superior two pair.

The Carnage Continues

Level 13 : 1,500/2,500, 2,500 ante

What started with 210 players thanks to 16 re-entries before the start has already been cut down to the last 185 hopefuls half-way into the first level of the day.

Among those to bust were Jen-Yue Chiang and Kfir Ivgi, and short stack Marco Baruzzo was eliminated by Thomas Muehloecker when his {J-Diamonds}{7-Spades} failed to connect with the [8as6c2d10c5s] board, Muehloecker claimed the pot with {A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}.

Kevin Allen was left short and on the ropes when his final 15,000 were in with {A-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}, as Geoffrey Mooney held the {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. However, the board came {Q-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades}{2-Diamonds} to give Allen trips and a new lifeline.
