"That's the first time I had ever made it to heads-up," John Dick joked as the table went back to four-handed.

Dick then raised to 3,000 under the gun and Dmitri Dudakov three-bet to 9,000 in the big blind. Dick instantly slid his stack of around 50,000 in the middle and Dudakov snap-called.

Dmitri Dudakov: AA

Dick had run his tens into Dudakov's aces and found no help on the 753JJ board to hit the rail as Dudakov took the massive pot.

"Good luck, boys," Dick said on his way to the exit.

All three players checked the A103 flop. McTaggart then led out for 2,000 on the 9 turn and only Docherty called.

In a blind versus blind battle, Paul McTaggart led out for 1,000 on the Q9A flop and Dmitri Dudakov called.

McTaggart checked to Dudakov on the 3 turn, and Dudakov bet 3,600. McTaggart called and the 8 fell on the river.

Dudakov then bet 7,500, but this time McTaggart came back with an all-in shove for 21,100. Dudakov spent a few minutes in the tank before calling as McTaggart showed 98 for two pair. Dudakov turned over Q3 for queens and threes to secure the pot and send McTaggart to the rail.

"Congratulations on winning Day 1," Jack Hardcastle told Dudakov while observing the table.

David Docherty bet 1,600 from the big blind on a flop of K83 and Dmitri Dudakov called on the button.

Docherty bet another 5,800 on the 7 turn and Dudakov called. The river was the 5 and Docherty bet around 15,000, leaving just one 100 chip behind.

Dudakov snap-called with K9 for top pair, while Docherty mucked J10.

"I might need to rebuy. He has a 240,000-to-one chip lead. Somebody get a photo of this," Docherty joked as 888poker Live Manchester champion Stephen Barnes came over to snap a picture.

Docherty was automatically all in the next hand.

David Docherty: 93 All in
Dmitri Dudakov: J4

Docherty took the lead through the turn on a board of A623, but the 5 river improved Dudakov to a flush to win him the pot and send Docherty to the rail.

Dudakov was the last player remaining in today's flight and bagged up his chips for Day 2.

Dmitri Dudakov Clears Out the Field on Day 1a of the 888poker Live Glasgow Main Event

It was a small, intimate affair on Day 1a of the £888 888poker Live Glasgow Main Event, but that suited Dmitri Dudakov just fine.

Dudakov dominated the opening flight inside the Grosvenor Casino Merchant City, wiping away the rest of the field and bagging up all of the 240,000 in play as he was the only one to advance to Day 2 out of the eight players to take their seats today.

Dudakov began his ascent to the top when he rivered a flush to beat Mark Boyd’s two pair and earn a knockout. He then crossed 100,000 when his pocket kings filled up on the river against Paul McTaggart. Dudakov then picked up aces against John Dick’s two tens in a massive pot for another bustout.

Dudakov brought the night to an early conclusion after picking off McTaggart with a better two pair on the river to reach heads-up with David Docherty. He then caught the former Irish Open champion bluffing to leave him with just one chip and finished him off the next hand by rivering a flush. Just nine of the scheduled 14 levels had been played, but Dudakov’s dominance earned him a short night. The Estonian native has nearly $140,000 in career live earnings, including cashes in the 2023 WSOP Main Event and the 2020 888poker Live Madrid Main Event.

While only eight entries were recorded today, the field should grow dramatically over the coming days. There are still five starting flights to come, including Day 1b tomorrow at 1 p.m. A star-studded field of 49 was also playing the High Roller, including 888poker Ambassadors Ian Simpson, Vivian Saliba, and Lucia Navarro, as well as Andrew Hulme, Jack Hardcastle, and Matthew Davenport. Those players and many more are sure to take their shot at the Main Event by the time late registration closes at the start of Day 2 on March 22.

PokerNews will be back tomorrow following all the action from Day 1b of the inaugural 888poker Live Glasgow Main Event.
