Johnston Finds an Unlikely Triple

Level 8 : Blinds 400/800, 800 ante
Cameron Johnston
Cameron Johnston

Cameron Johnston was down to his last 4,000 and moved all in from under the gun. Marius Varanavicius called in early position, but Daniel Gormley, coming off an eighth-place finish in the High Roller earlier today, reraised to 12,000 in middle position. The table folded back to Varanavicius who quickly folded.

Cameron Johnston: Q5 All in
Daniel Gormley: KK

Johnston was far behind Gormley's kings but picked up some outs on the 10J5 flop. The 5 turn improved him to trips, while the 2 river sealed his triple up. Even Gormley joined in as the table shared a laugh over the bad beat.

Bjorn Igeibert was all in for around 5,000 from early position as Josh Manley and Kevin Frame built a side pot on a flop of J26.

Dream Flop Nearly Ends in Disaster For Barnes

Level 4 : Blinds 200/300, 300 ante

Six players saw a flop of A102 as action checked to Paul McSherry who bet 3,500 from middle position. Only Stephen Barnes called under the gun.

McSherry bet another 6,500 on the 8 turn and Barnes again called. The river was the J and McSherry bet 8,000. Barnes spent several minutes shuffling around his chips before sending his cards into the muck.

McSherry showed him 22 for a set as he took the pot. "I had ace-queen of diamonds. What a flop. I thought, how do I lose this hand?" Barnes said.

"Those are the kind of flops you get when you swap with me," Nick Eastwood, observing the action from another table, added.
