Huge Hand on Table 27

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

We arrived at the table to see the board spread out {8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{9-Spades} and three players all-in. Alexander Margina was all in for his last 50,000, another player with just under 100,000 and [Removed:17] having them covered with an additional 50,000 in chips.

Margina: {Q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Yan: {J-Spades}{9-Diamonds}
Opponent: {9-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

Margina was in front with the straight, and would have to dodge any club, jack or nine that would give his opponent the victory. It ended with the {5-Diamonds} completing the board, locking the main pot to Margina. Yan was looking good to take the big side pot, but was rivered by a straight, to see him come out third-best in the hand.

Neilson Accumulating Quickly

Level 11 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Just before the break, Daniel Neilson went on his own little war path, accumulating chips at will. When we returned and walked passed his table, he was sitting behind a stack amassing 400,000 in chips.

We found out that the big hand he was involved in was worth over 200,000 in chips, with his opponent moving all in on a jack-high board with top-pair and a flush draw against his top –two-pair. He held, moving him up to over 300,000 and he won a few small pots from there.

After the break, he didn’t slow down. He opened to 5,000 from middle position, before [Removed:17] raised to 11,800 from the hijack. It folded back around to Neilson, who quickly threw in 25,000 in chips, bringing a fold from Yan.
Neilson will be hard to stop, with 430,000 in chips in his possession.

Tartaglia Loses Battle

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

A short-stacked Tony Tartaglia vowed to the table that he would move all in dark until he was back up to 120,000 in chips.

He did so and woke up with {a-}{3-} and defeated the pocket queens held by his opponent to move back up to 35,000.

In the very next hand, the player under the gun opened to 5,100 and was called by the player on the cut-off. As promised, Tartaglia moved all-in dark, and the original raiser took the chance to move all-in over the top for 62,000 to scare off the other player.

Tartaglia: {A-Clubs}{J-Spades}
Opponent: {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}

Tartaglia had actually woken up with a decent hand, but it was short-lived, when the board ran out {5-Hearts}{8-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{4-Spades}, to see him hit the rail just before the last break of the evening.

Margina Takes the Chip Lead

Level 10 : 1,000/2,000, 300 ante

We arrived at the table to the screams of cheer as Alexander Margina rivered a one-out straight flush to eliminate his opponent. With the flop reading {7-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}, both players moved all in and tabled their cards.

Margina held {K-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} but had been out-drawn by his opponent who had {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}. The blank {5-Hearts} fell on the turn, and with pleads of “six of diamonds,” from Margina and co, the dealer produced the magic {6-Diamonds} card on the river to see Margina leap from his chair in excitement.

His opponent could only smile and shake his head, as he walked out of the tournament room, as Margina now moves up to
240,000 in chips.

Grigg Out in Big Hand

Level 9 : 800/1,600, 200 ante

With the pot sitting at around 30,000 in chips, and the board reading {9-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades}, Tom Grigg checked his option from middle position before [Removed:17] bet out 17,100 from the hijack. Grigg called as the {Q-Clubs} completed the board.

Grigg checked dark as the dealer revealed the card, and without hesitation, Yan moved all in for around 80,000 in chips. Grigg sat back in his chair, surprised with the move. He contemplated for several minutes, before making the call, but mucking when Yan tabled his {K-Hearts}{Q-Spades}

Yan moves up to 200,000 in chips as Grigg has one more chance tomorrow move onto Day 2.

Octavian Voegele is slowly eliminating the short-stacks from his table. In the most recent hand, the player in middle position moved all-in for his last 9,300 in chips, and Voegele made the call as both players tabled their cards.

Voegele: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}

The board ran out {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{J-Clubs}{K-Hearts} to see Voegele pair his king, and move up to 110,000 in chips.
