Grigg Runs into Quads

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

Tom Grigg has just taken his seat at the most stacked table in today’s play. The likes of Ivan Zalac, Tristan Bain, Amanda De Cesare, Paul Birman and Ricky Kroesen all occupy seats at the table.

He recently lost a hand, and will need to rally back, if he wants to gain control of the table.

After a player in late position limped into the pot, Grigg bumped it up to 800 from the button and was snap-called by the player on the big blind, as well as the original better. The flop fell {Q-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{Q-Spades}, and the action checked over to Grigg. He threw out a continuation bet of 1050, which was just called by the big blind. Both players were happy to check the {Q-Clubs} on the turn, as the {K-Spades} completed the board.

The player in the big blind quickly looked over at Grigg, before reaching for chips, and throwing out 2,175. Grigg instantly folded, as his opponent flashed the {Q-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for quad queens.

Allan cracked

Level 3 : 150/300, 25 ante

Dave Allan is an early casualty from Day 1b of the ANZPT Repechage Main Event. After heavy action preflop, Allan got his chips on a flop of {4-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} with his {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs} in total control against {K-Clubs}{K-Spades}.

Allan looked set to rake in the 50,000-chip pot until a cruel {K-Hearts} fell on the turn to crack Allan’s rockets. He still was still live with a flush draw to go with his aces, but the river landed the {6-Clubs} to send Allan to the rail for the second time in this event.

Harji Back to the Start

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Pravin Harji has returned for his second chance today, but after starting off well, has lost a pot to bring him back to his original starting stack.

With the flop showing {8-Spades}{4-Spades}{7-Diamonds}, Harji checked, as his opponent placed out a bet. Harji then raised to 8,100, but was met with an instant all-in for 19,675. He leaned forward in his chair, and contemplated his decision, before making the call and tabling his {J-Spades}{J-Clubs}. His opponent tabled {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}, and held to double, as Harji drops down to 23,000 in chips.

Kozlov Loses Some

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

The hand started with Martin Kozlov opening to 400 from under the gun, and finding two callers. All three players were happy to check as the flop fell {7-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{4-Hearts}, before the {Q-Clubs} dropped on the turn. The big blind checked, as Kozlov placed 900 into the middle. The player in middle position got out of the way, and the big blind called, as the {10-Diamonds} completed the board.

Both quickly checked and tabled their cards. Kozlov showed {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}, but lost to the {Q-Spades}{6-Spades} held by his opponent.

Anunu Rivered

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

We arrived at the table, with the board showing {7-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, and Mishel Anunu checking his option from the big blind. His opponent on the button threw out 1,200, before Anunu raised to 3,000. After a short pause, he made the call, as both players saw the {9-Diamonds} complete the board.

Anunu quickly placed out 5,600, which was snap-called. Anunu sighed, as he flopped over {K-Spades}{9-Spades} for two-pair, and wasn’t to pleased when his opponent tabled {K-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for the rivered-straight.

Chrisanthopoulos Doubles Early

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Michael Chrisanthopoulos has just welcomed a double up, early in today’s proceedings.

After two players limped into the pot, the player on the button made a raise. Chrisanthopoulos was on the big blind, and re-raised to 900, before being met with a quick four-bet to 2,700. Without hesitating, Chrisanthopoulos threw out 7,200, triggering an all-in for almost 20,000 from his opponent. He quickly made the call and watched as his opponent confidently tabled {Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}. Chrisanthopoulos casually sat back in his chair, and showed his {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}, and welcomed the pot, when the board ran out {6-Spades}{2-Spades}{8-Clubs}{A-Spades}{2-Clubs}.

The Man has Arrived

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Walking around the tournament floor, we’ve spotted Bosnian Dejan Divkovic seated at Table 45. For those who aren’t aware, Divkovic is currently atop the ANZ Player of the Year leader-board, after taking home the ANZPT title in Perth in February, and narrowly finishing second at ANZPT Sydney just a month later. He is the clear front runner to take home the award, with just three more stops in the current season.
