Dhingra Bet Out

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The hand started with the player in middle position opening to 10,000. Gautam Dhingra made the call from the button, as did the player on the big blind, as the flop came down {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. With the action checked around to Dhingra, he casually placed out a bet of 14,000 which received a snap-fold then a snap-call from the original raiser. The turn came the {5-Diamonds} and without hesitation, Dhingra’s opponent threw out a bet of 20,000 which was rewarded with a muck a minute later.

Brabin Chops

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Luke Brabin is seeking valuable ANZ Player of the Year points for the top 63 and his chances looked like improving when he got his short stack of around 40,000 all in preflop with {A-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts} against Dale Marsland’s {A-Clubs}{10-Spades}. However the board ran out {8-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Hearts}{4-Hearts} to double pair the board to see the players chop the pot.

“You were about 90% to chop there Dale,” laughed tablemate Josh Barrett, although Brabin probably couldn’t see the funny side as he misses a much-needed double up.

Neilson picks up where he left off

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

Dan Neilson has picked up where he left off on Day 1b by winning the first three pots of the day. In the first hand, he raised from under the gun and took down the pot uncontested. Next hand he received a walk in the small blind, before Ben McLean tried to get in on the action with a raise from the cutoff on the third hand of the day. McLean made it 12,000 but Neilson three-bet from the small blind to 31,000. McLean thought for a bit before giving it up.

Gao Gone

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 500 ante

The player in the hijack opened with a bet before the option was on Jie Gao, who moved all-in for his last 27,500 from the big blind. The raiser made the call as the players tabled their cards.

Gao: {K-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}

Unfortunately for Gao, He would not find a double with his short-stack, as he was sent to the rail when the board ran out {5-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{10-Hearts}.

The 844 player field has been reduced to the 97 players hitting the felt today, with each vying for a piece of the AUD$844,000 prize-pool and each with their eyes on the victory and the AUD$181,250 to go along with it.

After his dominating day at the tables on Friday, it will be local Daniel Neilson who starts Day 2 as the chip-leader, sitting behind a monster 613,000-chip stack. Neilson will have a big lead over the next two biggest stacks of Anthony Hachem (386,000) and Edo Naftaly (416,000) who finished as Day 1a and Day 1b chip leaders.

Locals Cale MacLean, Josh Barrett, Fabian Craib, Michael Kanaan, Octavian Voegele, Gautam Dhingra and Dale Marsland are not far off the pace, as they’ll be making their presence felt from very beginning of play.
