Chewing Up Chidwick

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

It hasn't been a great day for Stephen Chidwick, first losing lots of chips with a big draw versus an overpair and then sending the rest to Stevan Chew.

The final hand of Chidwick's tournament saw him shove the small blind with {2-Spades}{2-Hearts}. Chew called with {a-Spades}{3-Spades} and the board ran out {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}, with Chew hitting a pair of aces to send Chidwick to the rail.

Giles Latest Out

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

The field is now down under 30 remaining players after the elimination of Warren Giles.

He was all in preflop for his short stack holding {a-Spades}{10-Hearts} and had to come up against Gregory Wheeler's {a-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}.

The {2-Spades}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} board was not friendly to Giles and so he was on the rail.

Big River Bet from Natalia

Level 14 : 1,500/3,000, 500 ante

We recently arrived on the river of a {q-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{5-Hearts} board to find a big pot brewing between Natalia Breviglieri and Michael Kane.

Breviglieri had led for 6,000 on the river and Kane raised to 26,000. That's when Breviglieri moved all in for around double that amount.

According to tablemates, Breviglieri had led on the flop and then both players checked the turn.

Kane looked quite confused on the river, tanking for a long time.

Eventually he folded and the pot went to Breviglieri.

"What happened with that hand!?" Jesse McKenzie asked Kane as Breviglieri raked in the pot.

"I raised for value," Kane said still a little bemused.

Unlucky Exit for Mierzwa

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Lucas Mierzwa has just found an unlucky exit at the hands of Michael Guzzardi.

Mierzwa's short stack went in preflop with {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds} and was in great shape against Guzzardi's {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}.

Then the board ran out {7-Clubs}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} to give Guzzardi a set of jacks and it was all over for Mierzwa.

McLean Building Stack, Gilbert Out

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Peter Gilbert started the day with one of the larger stacks but bled chips early before giving plenty to Robert McLean.

Gilbert's final hand of the tournament saw him all in with {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} against McLean's {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} on a {10-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{q-Clubs} flop.

It was cooler time with both players hitting a set.

The {5-Spades} turn and {5-Hearts} river meant both players had a full house, but with McLean's being larger, Gilbert was on the rail.

McLean is the new chip leader.

Big Chew Double

Level 13 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Stevan Chew has just made a big double up.

It started with Raiden Kan opening it up with a raise. Andrew Molodstov called from the button and Chew three-bet from the big blind. Kan got out of the way, while Molodstov called to see the dealer turn over a {9-Spades}{5-Hearts}{10-Spades} flop.

Chew threw out a continuation bet here and Molodstov shoved for 71,400 effective. Chew called and tabled his {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} which was in good shape against Molodstov's {a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}.

The {4-Diamonds} turn and the {3-Diamonds} river were safe for Chew and so he moved to around 160,000.

Molodstov, meanwhile, is now very short stacked.
