Johnson Doubles with Ten-High

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

Lorinda Johnson has just landed a remarkable double up with her ten-high enough at showdown to collect the pot!
The chips went in on the turn with David Lim leading out before Johnson moved all in. Lim made the call with {4-Spades}{5-Spades} for a straight draw as Johnson’s {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts} flush and straight draw now didn’t even need to hit to win. The river was the {a-Clubs} to leave ten-high as enough to rake in the chips!

Both players are sitting with about 160,000.

Kroesen Found What He Needed

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

The remarkable double ups keep coming as this time it was Ricky Kroesen who joined in the fun. Kroesen got his stack in the middle with {J-Hearts}{J-Diamonds} to be racing with Patrick Mahoney’s {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}.

The flop landed {10-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} to see Mahoney spike an ace to see Kroesen stand to his feet in preparation of his departure from the tournament.

The {6-Clubs} changed nothing, but the {Q-Hearts} river gave Kroesen a straight to better Mahoney’s two pair. Kroesen is now up to 250,000 and looking more comfortable on a tough table that also includes Stev Lackovic, Aaron Lim and Sal Fazzino.

Walch Doubles After Cooler Flop

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

A bit of a cooler of a flop has seen Justin Walch and Patrick Mahoney clash in a huge pot on Table 17. The flop was {9-Spades}{6-Hearts}{J-Spades} when action checked to Walch who bet. Mahoney check-raised another 30,000 on top but Walch moved all in. Mahoney quickly agreed to call.

Walch: {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}
Mahoney: {q-Spades}{10-Spades}

Walch held top pair but Mahoney was drawing huge with his open-ended straight flush draw.

The turn was the {6-Diamonds} and the river the {J-Diamonds} to improve Walch to a full house to rake in the double.

Tabb Down in Twenty-Second

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

It’s been quite a while since our last elimination, but now Steven Tabb will join the departed on the rail as the 22nd-place finisher.

Tabb’s final hand saw him lead for 17,000 on the turn of a {9-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{6-Spades}{8-Hearts} turn from the big blind position and then call off the rest of his chips when Patrick Mahoney moved all in.

When the cards were turned over, Tabb wasn’t excited to see his {k-Spades}{q-Spades} up against {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs}.

The river was a {6-Hearts} and it was all over for Tabb.

Next player out pockets $5,100.

Long Dam Double

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Ngoc Long Dam has just doubled through Paul Murray. He was all in from the cut off holding {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}. Murrary held {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} and so Dam needed the help of a {a-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{j-Spades}{4-Clubs} board to get there.

Auckland Champ Out in 21st

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

ANZPT Auckland champion David Lim has been eliminated in 21st place.

It was two hands that would deal the fatal blow to Lim. Firstly Lim got unlucky when Richard Larkin shoved from the small blind holding {j-Spades}{10-Spades}, Lim called with {a-Diamonds}{k-Diamonds} from the big blind and a {j-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades} board left Lim with just 20,000.

Then Lim was sent home when he moved all in from the small blind for 16,000 after Lorinda Johnson had opened to 17,000 from the cut off. Scott Davies called from the big blind and Lim watched on as Johnson and Davies checked down a {q-Hearts}{9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{8-Spades}{7-Spades} and then Davies sent Lim and Johnson's cards into the muck with his full house - {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}.

Blatt Wins Flip

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

Dean Blatt has doubled up! He shoved for around 100,000 from the cutoff and received a call from Ngoc Long Dam on the button. Blatt held {a-Hearts}{j-Spades} against Dam’s {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}. The board ran out {2-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{j-Clubs} and Blatt was up to 200,000 while Dam was left very short.

Bracelet Winner Out in 20th

Level 18 : 4,000/8,000, 1,000 ante

A one-two blow has seen the tournament of WSOP APAC bracelet winner Aaron Lim brought to a crashing halt.

It started when Lim tangled with Stev Lackovic in a button versus small blind battle that saw the chips in preflop with Lackovic’s {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} racing with Lim’s {A-Spades}{10-Diamonds}.

The board ran out {7-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{k-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} to give Lackovic a full house and the 280,000 chip pot.

Lim was left with just under 40,000 in chips which were all in preflop next hand. Lim shoved from he button with {10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} but Justin Walch made the call in the small blind with {J-Spades}{J-Hearts}.

The board ran out {4-Spades}{k-Spades}{2-Hearts}{q-Clubs}{6-Spades} to see Lim eliminated from the tournament in 20th place.
