Joe Hachem Eliminated
A short-stacked Joe Hachem had successfully moved all of his chips in preflop on two occasions during the last orbit, to add the blinds and antes to his stack, but he wasn't able to make it three times lucky.
The action folded to Joe Hachem in the small blind who open-shoved for about 20,000 with but Mike "Timex" McDonald snap-called in the big blind and had him in bad shape with his .
With good friend Emad Tahtouh calling the action on the mic, the board ran out giving no help to Hachem and eliminating him just short of a final table berth.
There's a reason that play has slowed down so much. Players are taking upwards of a minute every time the action is on them, even to check. A recent hand between David Steicke and Ivan Tan took over ten minutes to play. Steicke limped in on the button, then called a raise to 8,000 from Tan in the small blind. The flop was . Tan, acting glacially, bet 11,200. Steicke, acting even more slowly, called. Both player took over a minute to check the that hit the turn. On the river , Tan bet 10,200. Steicke then min-raised to 20,500, bringing a fold from Tan.
Wei Will Ma
Wei Will Ma is now our chip leader, as we inch our way closer to the final table of nine players. He took the lead after a recent pot against Quinn Do.
Do opened with a raise to 3,400 from under the gun and Ma called in late position, as did Charles Chua from the small blind.
They saw a flop and Do led out for 8,000. Ma made it 20,000 to go as Chua stepped aside. Do made the call.
The turn was a repeat and Do checked to Ma, who moved all in. He covered Do who had about 55,000 behind. Do thought long and hard but decided to let it go and wait for a better spot.
Ma now finds himself with clean air in front of him as he stacks up 250,000 worth of chips.
Yury Kerzhapkin eliminated
We're down to a baker's dozen of remaining players. Yury Kerzhapkin was all in preflop for about 15,000 against Nam Le. Kerzhapkin was ahead with pocket nines to Le's pocket fours, but the board became dangerous on the turn, . Any deuce, four or seven would make Le the winner. He caught the to send Kerzhapkin home empty-handed.
Eric Assadourian raised it up to 5,000 from the button before Quinn Do popped it up to 17,000 from the small blind. Assadourian then moved all for his last 85,000 and Do went into the tank.
Do eventually folded his hand as Assadourian continues his quest for back-to-back APPT Macau High Roller titles as he climbs to 110,000 chips.
David Steicke has proven himself to be a bit of a swami over the last week but he made a misstep against Michael "Timex" McDonald. Steicke raised to 4,800 preflop and McDonald called out of the big blind. On a dry board of , Steicke again bet 4,800 after McDonald checked. McDonald called to the turn, which both players checked. On the river , McDonald fired out for 15,000. Steicke calmly surveyed the situation for about a minute then called. He couldn't beat , the hand that McDonald turned over.
Don't cry for Steicke. He still has 192,000. McDonald now has 75,000.
David Steicke
Mike "Timex" McDonald raised to 4,500 from late position and David Steicke defended in the big blind.
The flop came down and Steicke led out with a bet of 7,500. McDonald made the call. The turn was the and Steicke fired out another 10,000. McDonald then announced a raise to 27,000. Steicke made the call as a huge pot was brewing.
The river landed the and Steicke put out a blocking bet of 17,500. McDonald went into the tank and even with so much in the middle, he decided to fold his hand.
With cries of "show the bluff" from the table, Steicke flashed for the flopped flush and was thankful McDonald didn't have the ace or king of diamonds.
"You are a machine!" said Andrew Scott as Steicke cracks the 200,000 barrier.
Van Marcus
Mike "Timex" McDonald raised to 5,000 from the button, before Van Marcus popped it up to 17,500 from the big blind. McDonald then moved all in and Marcus made the call for his tournament life.
Marcus:
McDonald:
With Marcus yelling "HOLD! One time!" the board landed to send the pot to Marcus as he doubles up to 95,000 with McDonald back to 87,000.
