Berec Gets Crushed

Jozef Berec's tournament has come to an end in Level 4. He raised all in preflop and was called by Lee Nelson. Berec had Nelson dominated, {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} versus {A-Spades} {8-Diamonds}, but the flop changed everything when it fell {8-Hearts} {A-Clubs} {8-Spades} to make a full house for Nelson and leave Berec drawing virtually dead. Berec couldn't come up with a miracle when the board paired running fives.

Nelson is up to 21,000.

Gill Likes to Lead From the Front

Carter Gill
Carter Gill
Carter Gill, who led for larger portions of the APT Macau event last week, has just doubled through David Chiu in a huge pot to claim the tournament chip lead here on Day 1c of the APPT Macau.

The flop came down {7-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{4-Clubs}, which sparked an all-in confrontation. Chiu held {8-Hearts}{8-Spades} for an overpair with an inside straight draw, but would need to improve against Gill's {6-Spades}{7-Hearts} for top two pair.

As players from nearby tables gathered to watch, the turn fell the {K-Clubs} and river the {9-Spades} to give Gill a double-up to 38,000 chips with Chiu now back amongst the pack with only 7,000.

Razor Can't Cut It Today

Phan Gone
Phan Gone
John "The Razor" Phan has been eliminated from the tournament. He bet 1,000, with just 2,000 behind against one opponent holding {A-Diamonds} {5-Hearts} on a board of {J-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {3-Diamonds} {10-Diamonds}. His opponent raised all in, and Phan decided to go with it. Unfortunately for him, he was up against the nuts -- {J-Diamonds} {J-Clubs}. Phan couldn't find a deuce when the river came down {5-Clubs} to send him off the tournament floor.

Schwartz Cracks Aces

Adam Schwartz looked down at pocket kings and got all of his chips in the middle. He knew he was drawing slim when an opponent reraised all in behind him.

"I'm drawing to two cards," he said as he turned over his {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}. He was right. His opponent had {A-Spades} {A-Diamonds}. The dealer burned and turned a powerful flop, {K-Spades} {10-Spades} {J-Spades} to make a set of kings for Schwartz but also to bring a royal flush draw for his opponent. Schwartz survived when the turn was the {2-Diamonds} and the river {10-Clubs} filled him up. He now has about 7,300.

J.C. Tran Eliminated by David Chiu

Tran Gone
Tran Gone
With a board reading {7-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{6-Diamonds} J.C. Tran checked-raised all in against David Chiu who made a quick call. Tran held {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts} for an overpair but Chiu flipped {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts} for a flopped set.

Needing a king on the river to survive, Tran watched as the {8-Diamonds} fell to send him to the rail as Chiu now sits behind a healthy 26,000 in chips.

Yeah's Draw Doesn't Come In

Joon Hee Yeah with his PokerStars rally monkey.
Joon Hee Yeah with his PokerStars rally monkey.
Joon Hee Yeah, runner-up in the APT Macau Main Event that took place last week, is finding the going a little up and down this afternoon. Sitting in the big blind, he was the only person to call a raise to 600 from an opponent in middle position.

The flop came down all black and all spades -- {3-Spades} {8-Spades} {7-Spades}. Yeah checked to his opponent, who bet 500 before Yeah check-raised to 1,400. His opponent called.

The turn was the {2-Diamonds}. Yeah bet 1,800 and again his opponent called. On the river {7-Clubs}, Yeah made it 4,000 to go. His opponent called and tabled {K-Spades} {10-Spades} for the flopped second nuts. Yeah showed down a busted nut-flush draw with {A-Spades} {J-Diamonds}. That 7,000-chip loss dropped his stack back to 13,000.

Mark Everett Climbing

Mark Everett has rocketed towards the top of today's leaderboard. He doubled up through Terrence Chan by firing all four barrels with a raise to 600 preflop, a bet of 1,400 on the flop, a bet of 3,275 on the turn and an all-in bet of 3,300 on the river. Chan called each time. At showdown, the board read {8-Diamonds} {6-Clubs} {3-Clubs} {9-Diamonds} {K-Spades}. Everett turned over {A-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}, a hand Chan couldn't beat.

Shortly thereafter, he eliminated a short stack on a flop of {8-?} {7-?} {6-?}. Everett had pocket queens and was up against {6-?} {5-?}. He survived his opponent's draw with a turn card of {7-?} and a river of {2-?}.

Everett now has about 24,500.

Tony Hachem Busto

Tony Hachem's day ends about halfway into Level 3. First to act, he moved all in for just less than 2,000 with the board showing {6-Clubs} {2-Diamonds} {9-Hearts}. He was called by one player in middle position, who tabled {J-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}. Hachem could only muster up middle pair and a few backdoor draws when he turned over {6-Diamonds} {4-Diamonds}. The board ran out {3-Hearts} {K-Spades} to send him to the rail.

New Deck Please...

The deck of cards on Men "The Master" Nguyen's table has had to be changed due to problems with marked cards. It has been reported that they are now on their fifth deck of cards for the day.
