Gavin Griffin Can't Win Every Pot

A tough hand for Gavin Griffin
A tough hand for Gavin Griffin
...even though he definitely tries. He and Tom McLaughlin put a total of 3,500 in the pot preflop and took a flop of {A-Spades} {7-Clubs} {5-Hearts}. Griffin led out from the small blind for 2,200 and was called by McLaughlin. He fired again on the {3-Spades} turn, making it 3,700 to go. Again McLaughlin called. On the river {J-Spades}, Griffin decided it was time to check. McLaughlin took the initiative to bet 7,800. Griffin agonized in the tank for about two minutes before making the call. He was shown {A-Hearts} {7-Spades} by McLaughlin, two pair aces and sevens, which was the winner.

McLaughlin is up to 95,000.

Massive Action Nets Korman Big Pot

See if you can follow this action. Sam Korman was the first player into the pot preflop, opening the action with a raise to 1,500. He was re-raised by Andrew Li, sitting in middle position, to 3,300, who was re-raised in turn to 7,800 by Alexander Soderlund.

That brought action back around to Korman. He called both raises, but Li wasn't done raising. He moved all in for 15,875 total. Soderlund decided that just calling that raise was the best idea, but then when action moved back to Korman, he moved all in himself for about 40,000.

That left Soderlund with quite a predictament, which he resolved by folding. With all preflop action finally complete, Li opened pocket queens and found himself against Korman's pocket kings. The board came {4-Clubs} {4-Spades} {2-Clubs} {A-Spades} {10-Spades} to send Li to the rail. Korman dragged a pot worth 84,600.

Scott Back On Track

Andrew Scott
Andrew Scott
Andrew Scott has turned his day around after spiking a set holding {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} on a flop of {8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

He found his chips in the middle as his opponent was drawing with {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds} for the nut flush draw, however the turn and river bricked {9-Spades}, {K-Hearts} to give Scott a handy double up. He's now up to 44,000.

Gray Eliminates Seet In Massive Pot!

Jason Gray, runaway chip leader!
Jason Gray, runaway chip leader!
Jason Gray opened with a raise and found one caller, before Nathanael Seet bumped it up to 9,000. Gray was the lone caller.

They took a flop of {10-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}, and again Gray called the bet from Seet as they saw the {J-Spades} peel off on the turn. Seet checked and Gray bet 13,000, Seet then check-raised all in for 54,100 and Gray made the call.

Seet tabled {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} for an overpair and open-ended straight draw, however Gray had already made a straight holding a creative {8-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}.

The river was a repeat {10-Diamonds}, and in the biggest pot of the tournament, Seet has been sent crashing to the rail as Gray opens a massive chip lead over the field with 173,000 chips! We're only half way through level six and he already has amassed 50,000 more chips than the leader from the end of yesterday's play.

Former Bracelet Winner Eliminated

Gary Benson is out
Gary Benson is out
Gary Benson has a World Series of Poker gold bracelet in seven card stud from the 1996 World Series of Poker. He won't be adding an APPT trophy to his tally. Benson raised to 1,500 preflop and was called by Wayne Carlson. The rest of Benson's chips, 6,900 in total, went into the pot after the dealer spread a flop of {9-Diamonds} {J-Clubs} {7-Spades}. Carlson called with top pair, {K-Diamonds} {J-Diamonds}, and found himself in great shape against Benson's unimproved {A-Spades} {K-Hearts}. The turn and river came {2-Diamonds} and {j-Hearts} to knock Benson out of the tournament.

A Century For Vince Ha

An early position player opened with a raise to 1,825 before Sergej Darscht bumped it up to 7,000 to go. The action folded to Vince Ha in the cutoff position, who put in another raise to 21,000. The blinds folded and the action was too much for the original raiser (who claimed to fold pocket jacks), before Sergej Darscht moved all in for around 48,000 in total. Ha made the call.

Ha: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}
Darscht: {Q-Clubs}{Q-Spades}

The board fell {K-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{K-Hearts} and Ha's aces held up as the original raiser cringed at what might of been with his pocket jacks. Darscht slips to 38,000 with Ha now a touch over the 100,000 mark.

Jordanou Exits

Bill Jordanou
Bill Jordanou
Bill Jordanou was short-stacked and committed his final chips holding {K-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}, but ran into an opponent's {A-Spades}{K-Spades}.

The board fell {9-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{4-Clubs} to give his opponent the best pair and the pot to send Jordanou to the rail.

Darscht Loves the Ladies

Sergej Darscht
Sergej Darscht
APPT field, say hello to Sergej Darscht. He's climbed up the ranks of the leaderboard by flopping a set of queen's and rivering a full house against a player's trip aces. The final board of {Q-Clubs} {5-Hearts} {J-Spades} {A-Clubs} {A-Diamonds} made a winner out of Darscht's {Q-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} and a loser out of his opponent's {A-Hearts} {K-Spades}. Darscht's stack has increased to 87,000 chips as a result.

Chu, Huntly Trade Some Chips

The board showed {8-Spades} {9-Clubs} {J-Hearts}. Hai Bo Chu was all in. When action got to Dennis Huntly, he probed for information.

"Do you want me to call?" Huntly asked Chu.

"If I say yes, will you call?" Chu asked back. Huntly said yes. "Ok, I want you to call," said Chu. And call is what Huntly did, tabling {A-Diamonds} {10-Hearts}. Chu had the same draw, but had also flopped top pair with {J-Spades} {10-Spades}. His pair held when the turn and river were {5-Clubs} and {K-Clubs}.

Chu now has 21,000 and Huntly has 23,400. Both are getting short with limits at 250 / 500 / 50.
