Chang Dented

Michael Chang
Michael Chang
Michael Chang, not the famous tennis player but the man who finished fourth at the 2008 APPT Manila event, is down to his last 6,000 after calling the all-in bet of a short-stacked opponent.

Chang looked in great shape to knock him out, with Chang's pocket nines well in front of his opponent's pocket fours; however a four fell on the flop to leave Chang in trouble.

Moneymaker Doubles the Hard Way

Chris Moneymaker
Chris Moneymaker
As a fellow World Champion was on the ropes on a nearby table, Chris Moneymaker and his opponent found all of their chips in the middle on a flop of {10-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. Moneymaker tabled {J-Clubs}{J-Spades} for an overpair but was in trouble as his opponent held {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}!

However the turn was a miraculous {j-Hearts} to give Moneymaker a set. The river was a blank with the {7-Clubs} and Moneymaker survived...just! He doubles to 45,000 chips.

Eastgate Hits the Felt

Eastgate Eliminated
Eastgate Eliminated
Peter Eastgate is the first of the three World Series of Poker Main Event champions in today's field to hit the felt. He was all in preflop for his last 4,800 with {A-Hearts} {8-Spades} and found himself up against Jarred Grimshaw's {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades}. Eastgate managed to pair up on the flop, {Q-Clubs} {8-Diamonds} {2-Clubs}, but did not improve from there. The turn and river were {4-Spades} and {J-Spades}. Eastgate left the tournament area to scattered applause.

Huang Eliminated

Bryan Huang
Bryan Huang
Bryan Huang has cashed on multiple occasions on the APPT circuit this year including a third-place finish in Macau, but he was unable to add another cash to his resume after recently being eliminated.

Huang committed his short stack with {K-Spades}{10-Spades} but ran into an opponent holding {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts}. The board of {4-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{2-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} didn't help Huang and he was sent to the rail.

Eastgate Stumbles Again

Things are going from bad to worse for Peter Eastgate. In a five-way limped pot, Eastgate bet 1,000 on the {9-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {5-Clubs} flop. Shane Moran was the only caller.

Both players checked the {4-Clubs} turn. On the {J-Spades} river, Eastgate led out for 2,000. Moran thought things over and then called behind. Eastgate showed {9-?} {10-?} for a pair of nines; Moran had rivered him with {J-?} {5-?} for two pair.

Eastgate has just 6,000 chips left. Moran's sitting pretty on 65,000.

Honeybone Busted by Quads

James Honeybone eliminated
James Honeybone eliminated
James Honeybone raised it up from late position and Patrick Carron made the call in the big blind.

The flop was {Q-?}{Q-?}{5-?} and Carron check-raised the bet from Honeybone, before Honeybone moved all in over the top. Carron made the call and tabled {Q-?}{9-?} for trips, as Honeybone revealed just {J-?}{5-?}.

Another {Q-?} on the turn gave Carron quads, and a {9-?} on the river gave Carron a comprehensive victory in the hand. Honeybone is out and Carron is now up to over 30,000 chips.

Milinkovic Runs into Another Set

Brad Milinkovic was trying to become the third member of the Milinkovic family to make it through to Day 2, but that's not going to happen. He moved his last 11,500 into the middle on a flop of {9-Spades} {A-Diamonds} {8-Hearts} holding {A-?}{K-?} in his hand. Unfortunately for Milinkovic, he ran into another set -- this a set of nines made with {9-Hearts} {9-Clubs}. The board ran out {7-Hearts} {K-Spades}, but Milinkovic's two pair were not good enough. He's out.
