Pots Are Getting Huge

With blinds at 4,000 and 8,000, pots are getting pretty big. Ray Sukkar opened the hand for 22,000 and was popped by Phil Willcocks to 56,000. Sukkar made the call, creating a preflop pot of more than 100,000 chips

The flop came down all babies, {2-Hearts} {6-Diamonds} {6-Spades}. Sukkar checked it over to Willcocks, who fired out a healthy 70,000 chips. Sukkar went into the tank, re-checked his cards, and then moved all in. That induced a fold from Willcocks, who dropped to 270,000 chips as a result of the hand. Sukkar is up to 430,000.

On an adjacent table, Daniel Kowalski opened a pot to 27,000 and was raised by Tom Rafferty out of the small blind to 64,000. Kowalski made the call there, then called another bet of 75,000 chips on the {4-Clubs} {2-Clubs} {3-Spades} flop. With 275,000 chips in the pot heading into the {A-Clubs} turn, Rafferty moved all in for 200,000. That folded Kowalski.

Sam Capra Eliminated in 34th Place (AU$9,800)

Sam Capra has survived well here today as the short stack, but his fortune has come to an end at the hands of Michael "TheBigSiCkO" Guzzardi.

Marlon Goonawardana opened with a raise to 23,000 from late position before Capra moved all in from the cutoff for 65,000. Guzzardi then shoved all in over the top from the button and the table folded around.

Guzzardi: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}
Capra: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}

Capra was in good shape to double but the board fell {10-Clubs}{4-Spades}{6-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} to give Guzzardi a set on the turn to grab the pot. Capra finishes in 34th place for AU$9,800 in prize money. Guzzardi is now up to 215,000.

Michael Harrington Eliminated in 35th Place (AU$9,800)

Michael Harrington thought he flopped a monster. He held {K-Spades} {Q-Clubs} on a flop that came down {Q-Spades} {5-Spades} {8-Spades}. Harrington had top pair and the second-nut flush draw and moved his chips into the middle after his lone opponent, Martin Rowe, checked. It was actually Rowe who had flopped the monster. He snap-called Harrington's bet and tabled the nuts {A-Spades} {9-Spades}, leaving Harrington drawing at a runner-runner full house. He didn't get there. The {2-Spades} hit the turn. Harrington was drawing dead and was eliminated on the river {6-Clubs}.

Tough luck for Harrington, but at least his 35th-place finish earned him AU$9,800.

Nice Read by Saffioti

Tim English raised from under the gun to 21,000 and Frank Saffioti made the call in the big blind, as two of our chip leaders clashed.

The flop was {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Saffioti said, "I hit!" and fired out 20,000. English then popped it up to 60,000 to go. Saffioti thought for a moment before he chirped, "I know you have the king," and folded his hand, flashing {Q-Hearts}{J-Spades}.

Saffioti was correct, as English flashed the {K-Diamonds}!

If Not Now...When?

Roel Pijpers moved all in from the button for 100,000. The small blind passed, bringing the action to Eric Assadourian in the big blind. He squeezed his cards and gave the matter some thought.

"I don't need to gamble yet," said Assadourian. He flashed pocket fours and mucked his hand.

Capra Doubles Again

Sam Capra was all in for his last 26,000 preflop and Michael Guzzardi decided to take a shot at eliminating his opponent.

Capra: {Q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Guzzardi: {Q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}

Guzzardi was hoping for live cards, but it wasn't to be, and when the board filled out {K-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{A-Hearts}, Capra had survived another all in clash to double up to 55,000. Guzzardi is still in good shape with 141,000.

Thomas McLaughlin Eliminated in 36th Place (AU$9,800)

Thomas McLaughlin - 36th Place
Thomas McLaughlin - 36th Place
Thomas McLaughlin threw his lot in with {A-Spades} {10-Diamonds}, moving all in for a total of 95,000 chips. Daniel Hameiri made a quick call with {Q-Hearts} {Q-Spades} from the button. McLaughlin received no love from a board of {2-Diamonds} {2-Hearts} {3-Hearts} {8-Hearts} {5-Spades}. He has retired to the rail, eliminated from the tournament in 36th place. Hameiri is up to 305,000 in chips.

Stewart Davidson Eliminated in 37th Place (AU$9,800)

Stewart Davidson - 37th Place
Stewart Davidson - 37th Place
Stewart Davidson raised to 27,000 from middle position before Poland's Daniel Kowalski made a small raise to 54,000 to go. Davidson made the call and they saw a flop of {J-Spades}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds}.

Kowalski checked and Davidson moved all in for 340,000. Kowalski made the call in the biggest pot of the tournament!

Davidson: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}
Kowalski: {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}

Kowalski had Davidson in terrible shape and the {10-Hearts} on the turn and {4-Hearts} on the river didn't provide Davidson with the miracle he needed. He becomes our 37th-place finisher as Kowalski becomes our new chip leader with very close to one million in chips.

Frank Bianco Eliminated in 38th Place (AU$9,800)

Frank Bianco - 38th Place
Frank Bianco - 38th Place
Frank Bianco came into the day short-stacked. He finally found {9-Hearts} {9-Diamonds} and moved the last of his chips into the middle. Tony Basile made the call with {A-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} and outraced Bianco by catching a jack on the {J-Clubs} {4-Diamonds} {K-Spades} flop. Bianco needed a miracle nine but didn't get it. The turn was the {8-Diamonds} and the river was the {4-Spades}.

He earned AU$9,800 in prize money for his 38th-place finish. Basile earned the pot, which increased his stack to 325,000.

George Lind Eliminated in Equal 39th Place (AU$9,333)

George Lind - Equal 39th Place
George Lind - Equal 39th Place
George Lind was folded to in the small blind. He moved all in with {7-Clubs} {5-Clubs}. Martin Rowe squeezed his cards, then double-fist-pump-snap-called with {A-Clubs} {A-Spades}. There was no help for Lind; the board came {3-Diamonds} {K-Spades} {10-Clubs} {3-Spades} {8-Clubs} to eliminate Lind.

Because Lind busted at the same time as Graeme Putt and David Gorr, he shares the 41st, 40th and 39th place prize money with them equally.
