Mamouni Smain Eliminated in 28th Place (AU$12,600)

Mamouni Smain - 28th Place
Mamouni Smain - 28th Place
In a battle of the blinds, Mamouni Smain raised to 25,000 from the small blind before Marlon Goonawardana made it 100,000 to go in the big blind. Smain thought before moving all in for 267,000. Goonawardana went into the tank before making the call.

Goonawardana: {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
Smain: {A-Spades}{J-Spades}

The flop was {Q-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and Goonawardana appeared in control of the pot, however the {10-Diamonds} spiked on the turn to give Smain a straight to take the lead! The twists continued as the {3-Clubs} fell on the river to give Goonawardana a flush and end the run of Smain in 28th place.

Shane Dye Eliminated in 29th Place (AU$12,600)

Shane Dye - 29th Place
Shane Dye - 29th Place
Shane Dye may be a small man, but he put in a huge effort in the APPT Grand Final. With chips dwindling, however, Dye needed to make a move. He made that move with {A-?}{Q-?} and was called by Hai Bo Chu, who showed {A-Spades} {K-Clubs}. Chu hit a king on the {3-Spades} {9-Hearts} {K-Spades} flop, and another when the turn came {10-Spades} and river came {K-Diamonds}. Chu had Dye barely covered, sending him to the rail in 29th place.

Clock Paused

The clock has been paused with 7:39 left in this level, as the players are now going to redraw for the final four tables. The purple 500-denomination chips are also being colored up.

We'll have the new table lineups for you shortly.

Wang Che Jung Eliminated in 31st Place (AU$12,600)

Wang Che Jung - 31st Place
Wang Che Jung - 31st Place
Just prior to the redraw Wang Che Jung was eliminated in 31st place. We don't have the exact details of the action but we believe it was pocket eights against an opponent's pocket nines that saw his demise.

Jung was one of our early chip leaders and leaves the tournament with AU$12,600 in prize money.

Anthony Rafter Eliminated in Equal 32nd Place (AU$11,200)

Anthony Rafter - Equal 32nd Place
Anthony Rafter - Equal 32nd Place
Anthony Rafter was the aggressor preflop, raising to 25,000. He was the aggressor on the {A-Clubs} {Q-Clubs} {5-Diamonds} flop, betting 30,000. And he was the aggressor on the {6-Hearts} turn, moving all in for 108,000. Antonio Fazzolari called Rafter each time, tabling a huge draw with {K-Clubs} {5-Clubs}. Rafter had top pair with {A-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} and had to sweat the river. He couldn't duck it when it fell {K-Hearts} to make two pair for Fazzolari, who climbed to 550,000 as a result of this elimination.

Roel Pijpers Eliminated in Equal 32nd Place (AU$11,200)

Phil Willcocks raised to 20,000 from early position before Roel Pijpers moved all in from the cutoff for 74,000. Willcocks made the call.

Willcocks: {3-Spades}{3-Clubs}
Pijpers: {A-Spades}{9-Hearts}

The board fell {K-Hearts}{7-Spades}{4-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{7-Hearts} to miss Pijpers and end his tournament in equal 32nd place as he was eliminated at the same time as Anthony Rafter. He'll collect AU$11,200 for his efforts.

Airball Shove Backfires For Jung

The board of {Q-Hearts}{A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} was checked to the river and it appeared to be a fairly innocent pot. That is, until Wang Che Jung open shoved for all of his 450,000 chips! More incredibly, Michael Guzzardi made the call!

Jung sheepishly revealed {K-Hearts}{8-Clubs} for a complete airball as Guzzardi's {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} was good to take down the pot and double up!

Guzzardi doubles to 450,000 with Jung falling to 205,000.
