Tim English Will Enjoy Dinner

Tom Rafferty raised from middle position to 38,000 and found two callers in Tim English and Michael Guzzardi.

They took a flop of {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Spades} and the action checked to Rafferty who fired a continuation bet of 80,000. English made the call as Guzzardi got out of the way.

The turn was the {8-Spades} and Rafferty fired again for 120,000 before English moved all in for 369,000 in total. Rafferty folded and English takes down a nice pot before dinner. He's up to 780,000 with Rafferty back to 1.1 million.

Back-to-Back Losses for Edmonds

Edmonds bleeding chips
Edmonds bleeding chips
In no-limit hold'em, one or two hands can change everything. Brendan Edmonds was one of the chip leaders a few moments ago; now he's in with the short stacks. Edmonds opened a pot to 42,000 from the button, then called when Polish player Daniel Kowalski reraised the small blind to 100,000. Kowalski check-called a bet of 110,000 from Edmonds on a big flop, {A-Diamonds} {K-Diamonds} {Q-Diamonds}. He checked again when the turn fell {10-Hearts}. Edmonds tried a bet of 200,000 only to see Kowalski move all in for about 500,000. Edmonds quickly mucked his hand.

A few hands later, Edmonds took a shot at eliminating Tony Basile. Basile opened for 43,000, then moved all in for 350,000 after Edmonds three-bet to 120,000. Edmonds called with {A-Spades} {K-Hearts}, but ace-king couldn't get the job done against Basile's pocket tens as the board ran out {7-Clubs} {Q-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {4-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}, allowing the Canadian Basile to double up to 720,000.

As a result of those two hands, Edmonds has lost two-thirds of his stack, falling from approximately 1.2 million in chips to 420,000.

High Rollers Update: Sam Youssef Early Casualty

Play is underway in the High Rollers Event, with 35 registrations to date creating a very healthy prize pool in excess of half a million dollars. The top four players will be paid and play is expected to continue until well into the morning until they reach the money stage of the tournament.

One player who won't have to worry about a late finish is Sam Youssef. He's the first casualty of the event after his pocket queens were rivered by Van Tran's pocket tens.

In addition to the players mentioned earlier, some of the late registrations include Jeff Lisandro, Andrew Scott, John Juanda, Emanuel Seal and David Steicke.

Ray Lapitan Eliminated in 14th Place (AU$19,600)

Ray Lapitan - 14th Place
Ray Lapitan - 14th Place
Tom Rafferty raised to 43,000 from middle position and Ray Lapitan made the call. The flop of {9-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{K-Spades} was checked through and the {Q-Hearts} hit the turn. Lapitan checked and Rafferty fired 60,000. Lapitan check-raised all in for 284,000 and Rafferty made the call.

Rafferty: {J-Hearts}{10-Spades}
Lapitan: {K-Clubs}{J-Clubs}

Lapitan had flopped two pair but Rafferty had turned the straight to leave Lapitan in trouble. The river fell the {A-Spades} and Lapitan becomes our 14th-place finisher collecting AU$19,600 for his efforts as Rafferty extends his chip lead to 1.5 million chips.

Rowe Doubles Through Edmonds

Martin Rowe
Martin Rowe
Martin Rowe has just doubled through chip leader Brendan Edmonds. All the chips were in the middle preflop with Rowe's {A-Spades}{K-Diamonds} in a dominant position against Edmonds' {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}.

The board landed {8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{A-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{J-Hearts} and Edmonds couldn't find a queen to eliminate his opponent, giving Rowe a huge double-up to nearly 800,000. Edmonds is back to 1.1 million.

Lapitan Leaking Chips

Lisa Delellis
Lisa Delellis
Ray Lapitan is having a tough level. After an earlier loss to Antonio Fazzolari, Lapitan has now doubled up Lisa Delellis. Hai Bo Chu opened the pot to 43,000 from early position. Lapitan opted to reraise for his whole stack, 572,000. Delellis was in the cutoff and made a double-fist-pump-snap-call all in for 231,000, folding Chu.

Lapitan: {A-Clubs} {5-Clubs}
Delellis: {A-Diamonds} {A-Spades}

Lapitan completely missed the flop of {4-Hearts} {9-Hearts} {J-Spades}. Running sixes ensured that the pot went Delellis' way.

Delellis is now on 543,000 chips, an impressive comeback from her severe short stack earlier in the day. Lapitan has slipped all the way down to 348,000.
