Ray Cook Eliminated in 16th Place (NZ$8,679)

Ray Cook - 16th Place
Ray Cook - 16th Place
Ray Cook was down to his last 16,000 chips, with 8,000 of those in the big blind when Ke Sijia raised to 25,000 from early position. Cook tossed in his last 8,000 but didn't like what he saw.

Cook: {J-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Sijia: {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}

The flop of {Q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{K-Spades} gave Cook some hope of survival with a flush draw but the {6-Hearts} turn and {Q-Spades} river bricked out to eliminate Cook from the tournament. He did well to make it to the next payout jump with his short stack, eventually busting in 16th place for NZ$8,679 in prize money.

Rob Toleafoa - 17th Place
Preflop, Michael Shinzaki opened to 20,000 from under the gun and Rob Toleafoa called from the blinds.

They took a {6-Hearts}{2-Spades}{9-Hearts} flop and Toleafoa checked. Shinzaki bet out 37,000 with Toleafoa calling.

The turn was the {a-Spades} and Toleafoa took the lead firing 60,000. Shinzaki flat called. When the river fell of the {k-Clubs} Toleafoa moved all in for around 160,000 chips and after going into the tank Shinzaki called.

Toleafoa tabled {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for top pair, but Shinzaki had a bigger top pair rolling over {A-Clubs}{10-Hearts} with his ten kicker playing.

Toleafoa goes out in 17th and we're down to two tables left. Michael Shinzaki moves into the chiplead.

Smith Doubles Through Brown In Half Million Chip Pot

Shilton Smith
Shilton Smith
Shilton Smith has just doubled through Jason Brown in the biggest pot of the tournament to date.

Catching the action on the turn on a board of {J-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}, Smith led out with a bet of 76,500 from the small blind and Brown quickly called in the big blind.

The river was the {3-Diamonds} and Smith announced himself all in, with Brown insta-calling! Smith flipped {Q-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for the straight and gave a little dance in his chair as Brown mucked.

Smith is up over the 500,000-chip mark as Brown slips back to around 650,000.

Guitteau Wields The Big Stack

Charlie Swan opened to 28,000 from the small blind with Gerome Guitteau making the call in the big blind.

The flop landed {6-Spades}{A-Spades}{4-Spades} and Swan came out with a bet of 24,000, leaving himself just 50,000 behind, before Guitteau immediately plonked out a stack of 5,000-denomination chips to put his opponent all in.

Swan quickly released and Guitteau flashed the {J-Spades}{10-Hearts} for a naked flush draw.
