Lucky Starting Stack

Most tournaments nowadays normally start with 10,000, 15,000, 20,000 starting banks or even ones that are equal to, double or triple the buy in.

In the case of the 2009 APPT High Rollers Event, each player starts with 88,800 in chips - an amount equal to the HK$88,000 buy in.

It may be an odd number to begin play with, but since the number eight is a lucky number in Eastern culture, the APPT is hoping that the tournament will be lucky for everyone!

Welcome to the APPT Macau High Rollers Event!

As the APPT Macau Main Event begins the approach to the final nine, the HK$88,800 High Rollers Event is about to begin.

Last year the event attracted 61 entrants for the HK$150,000 buy-in with Nam Le victorious over a star-studded final table that featured Quinn Do, Charles Chua, David Steicke, Johnny Chan, Van Marcus and runner up Andrew Scott.

Whoever can outlast the expected 50-odd runners today is not going to have it easy with Bertrand 'ElkY' Grospellier, Lee Nelson, David Steicke, Theo Tran and Jay 'Seabeast' Kinkade.

Play is set to begin at 2:15pm local time, with every flopped set, bruised ego and bad beat being brought to you by the PokerNews Live Reporting team!
