Beginning the day with slightly over 8,000 chips, Daren Yoon is now in the six-figure club!
Yoon opened to 2,800 preflop and found a caller in Wen-lan Yeh from the button as a flop fell.
Yoon fired out a 4,200-chip continuation bet only to have Yeh raise it up by dropping in 6,600. Not being ruled as enough to constitute just a call, Yeh was forced to make it 8,400 with Yoon smooth-calling.
Both players checked the on the turn, and when the landed on the river, Yoon took his time before dropping in six yellow 5,000-denomination chips amounting to a bet of 30,000.
Yeh made the call, only to muck at the sight of Yoon's as he climbed to 120,000 while Yeh slipped to 71,000 in chips.
As we strolled around the tournament floor everyone could hear the generators out the back kicking into a few extra gears.
As they kicked, the lights in the room would blink on and off until they eventually died - along with all the power.
For about two minutes we were stranded in total darkness, but after some quick thinking by the APPT and Shangri-La Mactan Spa & Resort staff, the lights and power were thankfully restored.
On a flop of Andrew Hinrichsen called a 5,000-chip bet as the landed on the turn.
Hinrichsen fired out 6,500 after his opponent checked, and once a call followed, Hinrichsen's 20,000-chip bet on the river went uncalled to see him collect the pot and move to 175,000.
Mitchell Carle opened the button to 2,500 only to have Tom Grigg bump it to 6,600 from the small blind.
Once the big blind had passed, Carle moved all in for roughly 23,000 and Grigg made the call.
Carle:
Grigg:
The flop put Grigg squarely in front, while also giving Carle nine outs to improve. Unfortunately the on the turn would end things for Carle, and once the landed on the river, Carle and Grigg shook hands as Grigg collected the pot to move to 135,000 in chips.
Joe Hachem moved all in for roughly 16,000 from the cutoff and Roger Spets snap-called from the button.
Hachem:
Spets:
With the 2005 WSOP Champion at risk, and dominated, the flop gave him seven outs to stay alive.
The on the turn changed little, but when the peeed off on the river, Hachem was forced to exit to the rail as Spets climbs to 90,000 in chips.
For Team PokerStars, it is Team Australia Pro Tony Hachem that is the sole member of the team waving the red and white, spade-central flag with just over 75,000 in chips.
Facing a button raise to 3,200, Mishel Anunu bumped it to 8,800 from the small blind.
After his opponent made the call, Anunu fired out 9,600 on the flop with his opponent tank-calling before the landed on the turn and Anunu moved all in.
His opponent quickly kicked his cards to the muck to see Anunu collect the pot and move to 115,000 in the process.
Rennie Carnevale found himself all in against Fabiano Michael.
Carnevale:
Michael:
The flop brought a queen to put Carnevale in the lead, but when the dealer dropped a king on the river, the ANZPT Adelaide Champion would be forced to hit the rail as Michael soars to 189,000 in chips.
