Kanaan Storming the Lead

Michael Kanaan is one of the chip leaders now, courtesy of recently eliminating two players. One of those players was the 2011 Aussie Millions Main Event champion, David Gorr. That hand saw Gorr get all his chips in holding {k-}{8-} on an eight-high flop, with Kanaan calling it off with {j-}{j-}. Kanaan then finished off another opponent, holding {a-}{a-} against {7-}{7-}.

Bye Bye Diddy

Didier Guerin will have to chase his dreams of winning the ANZ Player of the Year next season, as he has just been eliminated from the 2012 APPT Melbourne Main Event.

Guerin three-bet shoved holding {q-}{j-} on the button. Mile Krstanoski woke up with {q-}{q-} in the small blind and the player who opened the pot got out of the way. No help came for Guerin on the board and he was eliminated.

British Clash Gives Razavi Chips

Two Brits just clashed in a big pot, and Sam Razavi came out on top. Grant Levy kicked things off by raising to 4,200, and Sam Razavi three-bet him to 11,000 right away.

Gunther Hornung, who just won a massive pot, called quickly as did Wayne Bentley who was in the big blind. Levy opted to fold. The flop brought out {2-Spades}{8-Clubs}{7-Spades} and Bentley checked. Razavi had 64,100 chips left, and he moved all in. Hornung folded quickly and the action was back on Bentley.

After some back and forth chatter Razavi said, "I'd appreciate a call." Bentley did just that right after those words left Razavi's mouth, and the following showdown took place.

Sam Razavi{J-Hearts}{J-Spades}
Wayne Bentley{A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

The turn was the {8-Spades}, and the river the {4-Clubs} keeping Razavi's hopes alive. The Brit, winner of a UK and Ireland Poker Tour event and 2011 Aussie Millions finalist, clapped his hands in excitement as he's now up to 168,000 chips.

Hornung Crushes Levy

We arrived on the scene with a board showing {3-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}. German player Gunther Hornung was all in for 101,500 with around 60,000 chips in the middle. The action was on Grant Levy who looked pained as he was trying to make a decision.

After a while he announced the call, and Hornung turned over {6-Hearts}{6-Spades} for a rivered full house. Levy mucked his cards, and he got knocked back down. Hornung is now one of the big stacks.

More For Rubie

Brendon Rubie just raised from the button, and Tony Tartaglia defended his big blind. The flop brought out {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{4-Clubs}, and both players checked.

On the turn the {4-Spades} hit, and Tartaglia check-called a 4,000-chip bet. The river was the {A-Hearts}, and Tartaglia checked a third time. Rubie smoothly grabbed four chips, two black and two yellow ones betting 10,200. Tartaglia called almost immediately, but had to muck when Rubie showed {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}.
