Wong Falling

Level 4 : 150/300, 25 ante

Kenny Wong opened to 700 from the button, before the player in the small blind raised to 1,650 from the small blind. Wong then four-bet to 3,300, which was called, as both players saw the flop come down {6-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}.

The player in the small blind checked to Wong, who led out for 5,500. After a moment of thinking about his decision, he moved all in for just over 30,000 in chips, which had Wong covered. Wong didn’t look very pleased with move, mucking his hand shortly after.

Baby Flush for Wong

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

The player under the gun opened to 650, and was called by Kenny Wong in the hijack as well as the player in the big blind. The flop came down {4-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds} and the three players checked. This happened again, when the {A-Spades} fell on the turn, and was repeated when the {10-Diamonds} completed the board. The player in the big blind showed his {Q-Spades}{6-Hearts} first, as Kenny Wong then tabled his {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds} for a baby flush. Their opponent rolled over {A-Hearts}{J-Spades} for two-pair, but it wasn't enough.

Wong was appreciative of the small pot, as he moves up to 32,000 in chips.

Mariakis Gives Some Away

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

The hand started with the player in middle position opening to 800 and finding a call from the player on the button. Michael Mariakis was on the big blind, and made the call, as all three saw the flop come down {10-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{5-Spades}. Mariakis checked, as the player in middle position threw out a continuation bet of 2,000. The button folded, as Mariakis proceeded to ask for a count of his opponent’s chips.

Noticing he didn’t have a large stack behind, Mariakis raised to 5,700, which was enough to cover his opponent, who snap-called.

Mariakis: {7-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Opponent: {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}

The turn brought the {10-Spades}, meaning Mariakis could only hit a six on the river to eliminate his opponent. When the {K-Diamonds} fell instead, Mariakis had lost the pot.

“I didn’t think you had that,” said Mariakis, straight after the hand.

“Thanks, Michael,” responded his opponent, grateful to stay alive in the tournament.

Jones Folds River

Level 3 : 150/300, 0 ante

We arrived at the table to see the player in middle position open to 700 and find a call from Lacey Jones on the cut-off. Their opponent on the big blind then raised to 1,900 which was called by both, as the flop came down {A-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. The action was checked to Jones, who threw out a bet of 2,500, which was only called by the big blind, as the {8-Diamonds} fell on the turn.

A few thoughtful checks brought the {9-Hearts} on the river, as the player in the big blind quickly threw out 4,000. Jones thought for just a moment, before releasing her hand.

Yun Punishes

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Bawod Hyunshik Yun checked his option on a board reading {6-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}, as his opponent led out for 1,500. Yun quickly raised it to 4,000 and was met with a call a minute later. The {10-Diamonds} completed the board, and Yun looked over at his opponent’s chips. He reached for a sizeable amount of chips, and placed 5,500 into the pot. His opponent looked frustrated, and flicked his cards aggressively into the pot moments later, relinquishing the pot.
